BIO:
Behind Mrs. Undersee’s back mayor Undersee had began giving Magde training in espionage and he had done so in a clever way. The Undersee’s maid had served a different purpose than most cleaners. It was rare that Madge would witness Ms. Hyacinth tidy anything. She did however teach Madge the different types of swords, she escorted the young girl to various self defense classes. She discussed how to differentiate types of poisons by smell and shade and when Madge is older Hyacinth would be present as she fired her first gun. It wasn’t till Madge turned fifteen that she had caught on. This wasn’t her after her school sport; this was her introduction to espionage and Ms. Hyacinth is much more than a maid. If Madge were asked to label Hyacinth she would think something just short of mother would be appropriate.
It isn’t that Madge had ever had a bad relationship with her own mother, Augustina. She was just, absent, usually too high on pain medication to really be there. The drugs were her way of coping; and who could blame her. About a month after the Undersee’s decision of getting pregnant with what would be their only child Maysilee Donnor, Augustina’s sister would be murdered during a highly classified mission. Realizing how unforgivable the world of espionage truly is the soon to be parents decided it’s time for Cosmin to Undersee to resign, and he truly does believe he can give up his work, for awhile. There are faint and clouded recollections that still hold a place in Madge’s memory. While some speak sweet reminiscence of childhood stories Madge can’t seem to separate the falsehoods from the truth. When she was three years old her father was elected mayor; a job that to Madge, seemed much more detrimental than most. At four years old several men enter her home bearing dark clothes and weapons no politician should have access to. Her father tells her it was just people from the bank, that those weapons were briefcases, that she was seeing things. He’s her father, a man who would never lie to her; she believes him. When she’s six he tells her that their maid is home sick so he’s taking the day off from work and they can spend time together. A feeling that later she can only describe as exuberance takes over her, her father doesn’t take days off. They go to the Nigeria Falls and stay in a small hotel. As she’s changing into her day clothes she hears loud booming and through the washrooms mirror she sees blood, there’s a man dead on the bed with several bullet holes in his chest. He gives her some medicine and later says she saw it in a dream, that it was just a dream. At sixteen, 10 years since that night in Ontario, she would confront her father. He’s confessed that he was a spy, and continues to spy for America more often now that his term as mayor has come to an end, though he tells her he never involved her or her mother in his missions. She’s not sure what to believe.
She put these memories behind her, there was far too much to focus on now. The Alcott Academy of Excellence has contacted her, impressed by her analytical skills and ability to read situations and quickly adapt. She put those vague memories to the back of her head, but choosing to dismiss them could ultimately decide her failure.
ALLEGIANCE TO AAE: She’s loyal to AAE.
CLIQUE: The Elite. Though she’s quiet and has not held her own in the group. She’s only in this clique due to her family. No one knows that she only discovered the life of espionage when she was fifteen. She and her father tell people that she trained privately to eliminate distractions.
