He had tried to move towards her, to deny the accusations. But the flames enveloped her completely. The very air around her crackled and the skin on his fingers began to blister where they had reached for her.

“I will not be taken! I will not be enslaved or destroyed for my magic! Come for me and I will turn your very bones to ash!”

Every muscle in his body had clenched as her words had ripped through him. Skin glowed gold as the fire danced harmlessly across the soft flesh of her body. The heat, the power of her magic was nearly suffocating.

His teeth had gnashed his lips, the taste of copper overwhelmed his mouth as a deep moan rumbled through his chest.
