Lazy Mom Problems...

You might be a Lazy Mom if...

You hose your kids off after lunch...

...after dinner

...heck after every meal

You would rather Vacuum the Table instead of wipe it clean...

...or vacuum the children...

...vacuum dust...

...vacuum flies...

...actually vacuum anything instead of sweep or wipe it off...

You let your kids run naked so you have less laundry to do...

You realize your potty training 2 year old just pooped outside and you pick the poop up (NOT WITH YOUR BARE HANDS) and throw it over the fence hoping to play it off like dog poop and you don't have a dog so you are off the hook for the blame.

You try to justify throwing poop over the fence with a long drawn out explanation...

If you bought the bulk pack of wipes and all the smaller packs are open because the unopened one was closer than the open one...

Yes I have realized I am a Lazy Mom...

Me: “Hi Gage!”

Him: “I got drunk!”

Me: ” What?!??”

Him:” I got drug!”

Me: ” OMG! What?!?!”

Him: ” Look look!” —grabs my hand and leads me to his room

Him:” Look! I got drut”

This is where I realize he is doing what he is famous for which is creating words. Gage is amazing. He creates words and then tries to make them real. Since he was 2 Gage has always loved letters and numbers. They are his life line. We cannot go any where without a letter! For his birthday last month he got giant foam letters and magnetic ones. Mind you he’s 7, high functioning and extremely creative he just has a thing for letters.

I love this trait because it keeps him learning and he truly loves reading and writing.

The road always leads you somewhere. These roads lead me home. Home is never in the same place but it is always where my heart is.

I dream of driving these roads at night and I imagine how I may never drive some of them again but to think I at least got to at one point in my life is humbling.

The roads never end and to never leave some behind is a sad thing. Let the roads stay behind you so you can forever travel new ones.

The sun had stopped blazing for the day and the moon was slowly rising. It wasn’t fully dark yet but you could feel it coming because the temperature had dropped. My favorite thing about living in the desert was the night sky, such a brilliant dark blue with the biggest stars. As I sat on my porch listening to the quiet night approaching and enjoying the rich smell of dry desert soil I pondered what I would do if Ziggy never came home. It was familiar thought because his disappearances were very common.

What if...?

Sometimes I think “What if?”

What if I grew up rich?

What if I grew up with two parents?

What if I was more focused in high school and got a scholarship to an Ivy League college and graduated with honors?

None of this happened to me. I wasn’t smart or pretty in school. I wasn’t the teen dream with tons of friends and my own click in High School. I was just one link in the zipper. Not a link that was needed to zip, I was the one on the bottom below the clasp. I existed but wasn’t needed, and rarely noticed. I am not writing a life story about how I grew up from nothing and achieved life’s greatest wish.

I see all these caddy TV shows about pretty girls and their pretty rich families giving them everything they don’t need to get through the day. Giving them cars and expensive bags so they can “fit in.”  It just makes me think is all…
