"Jokes on you, ‘cause I’m not stealing your bed, I’m sharing it. There’s an actual difference, Herr Gottlieb, I thought you mathematicians were all about differentials," The words were muffled ungraciously into a pillow that wasn’t his.

    "You're occupying a space that is mine. It counts as stealing for me. Now would you please get out of my bed." He more-or-less sounded tired and annoyed at Newton disturbing his sleep. He sat there for a moment before he pushed Newton. Most likely too hard, but he really did want him off his bed.

The problem with trying your best to be quiet was that it often failed, and Newton tensed as he stepped over a few things and dropped down onto one side of the bed that didn't belong to him, "-I don't know what your policy with cuddling is, but I'm assuming it's something along the lines of non-existent, and I'm okay with that--" In other words, he was still going to collapse on his back beside the mathematician, and seize up some of the covers.

      For once the mathematician had actually fallen asleep without the help of ‘other means’. Though how long it would last depended on certain reoccurring disturbances while he slept. Though the ones he heard weren’t quite what he was expecting.

       The second he heard the voice he jolted upright, seeing Newton make himself at home on his bed. When the covers were pulled away from him he yanked some back to keep the lower half of his body covered. He was dressed for bed after all.

         ”Do you mind. It’s not exactly civilized to come into a persons quarters without asking first, let alone steal their bed.”

          "I am going to murder you."

    It had only been a day since he'd been attacked by Chuck had injured him. His leg was better, though still hurting, and his nose had been repaired and patched up. Though he doubted his nose would ever look the same. He'd taken it into his personal agenda to avoid the brash pilot at all costs, which had proven effective. The German hadn't seen him since.

    Though even as he sat at his desk in the Laboratory he still felt the need to get back at Chuck somehow. He was no where near as skilled and powerful as the pilot was, leaving no chance for him to get back in his desired way, however idiotic it was.

     One thing he was glad of was that Newton hadn't shown his face. It was a cruel thought but in good terms. He didn't want his colleague seeing him beaten up. It certainly didn't help his pride much. Though the creaking of the laboratory door said otherwise, and that noise could only mean company. He just hoped it wasn't Chuck nor Newton.

"You know, what I like most about you is how caring and approachable you are—They’re really some of your better qualities," It’s no surprise that he releases Hermann as quickly as he can.

     The second he was released he sighed in relief and fixed his parka, glancing at Newton. He looked angry, though you'd have to be insane to ask him why he was angry. Especially if you were Chuck.

        "It's Chuck isn't it. He's daring you to..."

    He didn't even want to say it. Though if Chuck was indeed the culprit he definitely had a desk coming for him this time.

"I promise I'm not gonna kiss you--" It's the first thing out of his mouth, and he held his hands up in front of him in a mock surrender. It took him awhile longer to consider how exactly one went about hugging Hermann Gottlieb. If there was some special procedure that he was otherwise uninformed of. In lieu of this knowledge, Newton went for something a little more old-fashioned and wrapped his arms around the mathematician. "If you hit me, know that it only teaches me to hit--"

    At least he had a warning this time, however mild it was. He was ready this time to fend away an invasion of his little bubble. Though when it wasn’t abruptly invaded he let his guard down only for a moment. “I swear to god if you are tr—”

    The hug put him right off. What brought this on? All that came it his mind was dare. Some people just had it out for him these days, trying to make his life drag on that little bit more. 

           He stood there, quietly frowning and standing ridged. you could nearly hear how loudly he was frowning. At least it wasn’t a kiss, though he still hated his bubble being invaded.

           ”Newton… 

                 Get off me.”

Hermann was supposed to shove him away and look downright mortified. It was only funny when the mathematician seemed outraged. The fact that he didn’t knocked Newton well out of his safety zone, “That was-I’m gonna—.. work-“

    It almost felt like he was about to figure out what that other feeling was, but Newton broke away, releasing him, shattering all hope of figuring out that little spark. 

    Hermann cleared his throat, shuffling away slightly as he fixed his parka collar and avoiding looking at Newton. His little bubble had been invaded and even though Newton had stopped, it still felt like he was there.

               "Yes—, work."

    Air. He needed air. The grip on his cane tightened as he rose it and hit Newton's shoulder. Not hard, just enough to make him flinch.

                "No more dares."

    Before his... colleague could react he made for the door. Hopefully the roof would be clear and the skies clear. He felt as if he was suffocating down here.

"--would you please not freak out, or hit me-" This is the second time. The second time. If it were at all scientifically possible to die from embarrassment, Newton would be six-feet under by this point. But a dare, was a dare, was a dare. Even if Chuck would never let him hear the end of it. Gripping his hands into the front of that ridiculous parka, the biologist pulled his colleague into an abrupt kiss. 'It was a dare' already sounded like a weak excuse in his head.

    Again, the abrupt kiss he certainly wasn’t ready for. Hell, he may as well have been knocked off his feet and left on the ground torn between confusion and a feeling he couldn’t quite put his finger on. It was also a matter of whether to hit Newton or to simply push him away and disappear for a day. Either way, he was glad it was only the two of them in the room. Even then he felt like he was melting from embarrassment.

    The hands gripped around the collar that pulled him into the kiss felt like they were almost shaking. Though it may have just been him. His own hand was around Newton’s wrist. He wasn’t trying to free himself, but nor was he pulling Newton closer. He wasn’t sure what to do exactly.

             He just stood there.

                           Just like last time.

                                   Only this time he didn’t resist.
