You mean there’s oppression in real life too? Wow, I never knew! Thank you so much for telling me, and here this whole time I just thought the world was sunshine and rainbows. Now that I know this I will stop writing about the media I absorb with a critical eye, since obviously fiction has no effect on reality and I have never in my life been told that #reconciliation is up to me, an Indigenous woman, to just hand out forgiveness to colonizers in the same way elves are told they must forgive humans, despite it being undeserved. Everything I wrote? Completely without real life meaning and connection. Since when do corporations try to profit off the suffering of minorities via direct or indirect adoption of their oppression, right? Since when do people use media to validate their bigotry, right? All fake. All undeserving of criticism. No harm done at all.
