A trip to Igromir Expo-2018 or a ballad about queues ...

A month after our trip, we have finally started to write this article about Russian video games show and exhibition called IgroMir Expo/ComicCon 2018!

Our team visited the Expo on the October 4th and 6th! In the business day there were not so many people cause only press and industry specialists were allowed. However, it was possible to quickly got through the stands, play any games you like! But on Saturday (October 6th), the number of people tremendously increased. It was hard to even move around the exhibition. And what about playing, touching and photographing...the queues were nearly kilometer long!

There were quite a lot of stands with interesting games and stuff. That is why IgroMir Expo can be considered as one of the largest exhibitions of games in Russia and the CIS. It was our first visit to this Expo.

One of the largest stands was at Nintendo: a bunch of Nintendo Switch consoles that you can play, a separate scene for dancing in Just Dance, cool design and nice volunteers! Those were pretty good experiences.

Talking of large projects like Metro: Exodus there were some creative stands in terms of styling: for example, a huge carriage with all sorts of interesting gadgets, but to get in you had to beat off the line of people that wrapped this carriage several times around first!

The Blizzard stands with World of Warcraft and Hearthstone were a pleasure to watch. At the WoW stand, it was possible to choose a side: the Horde or the Alliance and grab some “stuff” like a tattoo with the symbolics of faction.

It was also pretty warm and cozy playing Hearthstone at Blizzard’s.

At the Microsoft stand, one of our 3D artists managed to play Forza Horizon 4, was waiting about an hour before his turn. Not a big pleasure! But after all, it was possible to play using Thrustmaster steering wheel.

Special attention was given to cosplayers with their costumes. This sort of art recently began to develop in Russia. There were lots of girls and boys in awesome hand made costumes, it was impossible to give a high five to all of them.

Summarizing, we can say that it is better to come to IgroMir Expo at first (business) day. The number of people on the other days is overwhelming, with almost no possibilities to play more then three games in a day, watch or buy something that you really want. We have got lots of positive emotions, we are sure everyone should visit such Expo at least once. It is definitely worth it.
