The awesome moment when you score a recommendation letter from someone who wrote one of the top 10 most influential papers in Economics in the world. Someone who is in waiting for a Nobel prize.
If you ask me, the lack of awareness there is in the world is an understatement. The individual in society is from early on expected to adjust to society’s norms and ideals. Society limits our capacity and our abilities. We were born with unlimited capacity to fulfill and manifest all our ideas and desires, however with time we reach a point where we settle and give in to what society holds us back by and limits. It’s insane to think and look back at previous time periods and how different life was, everyone had a sense of individuality and sense of self. Now you see the era were in now, and all you see are people following the same trends, people aiming towards the ideal of “perfection” you see people idolizing famous people aiming towards being more like them, you see materialism and technology taking over and as a result overall you see humanity diminishing. People loose touch with their hearts, with their own personal way of thinking. Compassion is lost, empathy and vulnerability are lost, all there is people taking pride in being “heartless” and having no feelings, having a guard up. You see the ambitious mindset everywhere, people pursuing careers with the only purpose being the salary. You see the materialistic greedy “money is everything” outlook on life. You see the media brainwashing kids, you see the worst of things. It almost relates to the bible verse “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6) this fits perfectly when describing this generation. We try to follow what society hopes for us to do because we wish to “fit in” and you see everyone wearing the same clothes, talking the same, it’s sad to even say that we’re like clones. There is no awareness, everyone thinks that ignorance is bliss when it isn’t. It’s a stop sign, it’s a dead end, it stops you from elevating mentally from growing spiritually, from evolving as a person, it stops your personal growth. Far and rare are those that have an inclination towards becoming conscious and aware of the things going on in the world. You don’t see those who are passionate about social issues, about helping humanitarian causes, about growing in faith. You see the selfish, the greedy, the ambitious, the weak minded, but you don’t see the ones enthusiastic the ones who still have that fire in them to learn, to grow, those that are rich in spirit whose life hold more meaning. Everyday injustice is seen, issues deserving of more awareness often go unnoticed, people make the news and then just talk about it as if the continuous inhumane acts that keep taking place are just events that simply happen. Then we go on social media and just post pictures saying “rip” and the hashtags “prayfor” are seen everywhere. We don’t care for anything anymore, we’re not passionate about anything, we talk about change and world peace but we do nothing towards it and ultimately that is the biggest problem.
