What about curbside directly from the store? Vons/Safeway and Sprouts have been offering it here in CA.
Curbside is great if you have access to a car, or the ability to leave your home -- my parents do curbside all the time and love it. But some places won’t do it for you if you show up on foot, and if you’re trying to transport anything heavier than 2-3 bags (delivery for me regularly included a 15 pack of TP and a 20lb box of litter) for any distance, it poses some issues even if you’re on a bus route (which....buses during the pandemic are not a great way to go).
It’s a good alternative for some! Just, for most people who formerly got delivery, curbside wasn’t an option to begin with for other reasons.

Our Kroger has really nice delivery! You can even text with the shoppers & let them know details (bananas not too green) and what to do if they’re out of what you ordered.

I had high hopes for Jewel-Osco’s delivery service but it was just a proxy website for DoorDash :/
