IT WAS JUST ANOTHER NIGHT. Ell’s father was away on business leaving her alone with their house help. A cold Autumn had begun to settle in over her mansion home. Ell decided to venture into the evening to go star gazing and excused herself from the dinner her butler had prepared for her. Placing a thick fur coat around her shoulders, Ell walked out into the courtyard of her family’s property. The moon was full and bright above the scene casting an eerie glow off of the snow that had fallen on the ground the past few evenings. Crushing down the cold frozen ground as she strided through the court yard, Ell heard a noise not far away.
Given that nobody lived anywhere within walking distance of her family home it was rather strange to hear what appeared to be a female voice calling out for help. She picked up her pace and started down the winding stone path that lead towards the open forest into town. What Ell found after a good walk surprised her. A carriage sat perfectly overturned on the side of her road and yet it was not her father’s.
“ ——– Excuse me, do you need some assistance? “
she called out, walking around the carriage in search of it’s driver. The horse that had been carrying it was long since gone off into the woods spooked by some unknown thing. Ell stood there awaiting an answer as she drew her coat closer to her body, a cold chill carrying snow down onto the path once again.
