Your final project will be a parting gift to the IHS community – and a tight, concise show of Media and English skill on your part.
Every person must complete one of these projects. You may have a partner physically hold the camera, but you’ll need to plan the shots, edit the footage and submit the piece ON TIME to pass the class.
This piece will be both 1/5 of your overall average (the final exam grade) as well as the last major segment grade of this quarter.
The assignment is as follows:
You will need to reach out to a club YOU HAVE NOT BEEN A PART OF in the last four years, and “tell their story.”
The piece needs to be between three and four minutes.
The piece needs to involve at least five different points of view. Think faculty advisor, club “president,” and three other members.
The piece needs to involve some planning ahead of time:
• Send us proof of outreach (CC us on emails to faculty advisor, to student president, etc.)
• Send us proof of visual planning – storyboarding out 10 dynamic shots of the club space / performance OR a densely written outline (see QOTW for 05/02)
There should be a 10-shot minimum B-Roll montage to quickly give an overview / flavor of the club.
There should be high-quality audio and video throughout
There should be only small amounts of narration – use graphic text, interviews and music to help spell out the story of the club.
This piece will be DUE on June 6th. Plenty of time.
(You must also submit at least up to two more segments, depending on where you are, by this date, even if they may not make it on a Red-Eye. A third will ensure a solid “A” in the course.)
