Mha Au! Cyborg!Iida:
Knight of Machines
Summary: something something, Iida gets horribly injured, forcing him to take on different body repairs becoming the ship of Theseus
(This is where my self insert would come in the original drafts, but for the sake of being coherent, she will be replaced by hatsume. This can be set post time skip or pre)
…He turns to hatsume, not allowing anybody else to see him. One Ingenium’s hero career was cut short, Tenya CANT end up like his brother. Besides, such a renowned and respected hero, class rep, LEADER…having that figure crumble? No, it absolutely has to be hatsume. Iida’s engines/quirk make him compatible for most engineering applications, so while he may now be part “robot” the essential parts are still from his quirk…(fleshy metal, mmm-)
Iida is at first happy he won’t be out of commission like his brother…however, it now becomes a ship of Theseus situation. The more he gets injured and beat up, the more changes he needs to make to himself. And metal doesn’t stretch and get stronger, it just is. His overarching fear of ending up like his brother, useless and powerless in the eyes of the hero associations…as much as these technological applications hurt him (socially, mentally, physically, emotionally etc etc)…he cannot turn back and stop saving people, he just CANT.
He is loosing his humanity in exchange for his dream, his goal, his motivation to do anything since he was little. Is pursuing hero work worth all this? Never for him to him to plunge his hands in cool water on a hot day. Never for him to play Mozart on the ivory keys of a forte-piano. NEVER FOR ME TO MAKE LOVE! (AM reference)
Is this really the future he imagined for himself? What good is saving so many people, giving them more time on this earth to enjoy the things he can’t anymore.
It goes to the point where his own body isn’t even his. The amount of changes, the amount of modifications he had to make on himself…is it even his desire to save people anymore? Or is it now another programmed command from within him? He cannot rest, his body wasn’t programmed with humanity in mind, only his goal, to be a “hero”. His feet trudge along hero work while the few bits of flesh he has begs him to stop, to be HUMAN again.
He looked so far removed of what he once was “if you were to see him, you'd hardly believe he is a hero”
I think about this type of Iida far too much. His stubbornness and willingness to give everything his 100% makes me think this is entirely plausible. I’m very glad current Tenya has enough common sense to take care of himself and not end up like this (…kinda, he can be a little dumb at times)
Headcanon: he keeps his bad vision because the monotonous routine of having glasses reminds him he is human, and an imperfect one at that. Well, that is until his “robot” self deems it a useless thing to keep.

Edit my au in any way youd like! I’d like to see what spawns from my silly little post
!!! No hate, js vibes :3
This is an au I created from my own mind! If you do anything with this concept please make sure to tag me <3 I doubt it’ll get any popular but js in case :3
Thank you for listening to my silly au :333
I’m so normal about this song I swear (especially 2:55)
And becauze this is a tenya Iida account let’s get some Iida angst rambles 😋
i feel like it’s been kinda too overdone that Tensei dies and Iida becomes vigilante but you know what would crush his spirits even more? Tensei beinf disgusted with him by killing stain. Him, his brother that he looked up to oh so much. It’s like the death of a familiarity you once had. No matter what he can’t mend what he did, they can never go back to how they were. Imagine seeing the color navy blue abd thinkinf “I need to show this to my brother” but remembering. I feel like that would be more motive for Iida to become a vigilante and take up stain’s ideology
anywya I had a whole fight scene and storyboard with this song witj my oc and Iida (and three villain ocs) (if anybody cares 👀👀👀)
that’s it thanks ;P
Au where everything is normal except eijiro gets five more mins with Iida and he gets cuntified lol
I’ll render this later but you get it
