There are lots of videos taken by fans of Funassyi events on YouTube - you can search for ふなっしー (<-- just cut and paste). But this one is a bit different, a sort of behind-the-scenes look by one of the chara themselves, Iisa King. You see the chara ‘relaxing’ after the recent chara festival in Sumida, Tokyo, chatting and taking photos of each other. They’re not actually relaxing for real yet of course, since they are still in their suits in warm weather, but it makes for great photo ops for the fans. Funassyi causes Iisa King some consternation when he mentions that the King and Akkuma (the purple-blue bear) where out having fun the night before in Shinjuku until 3am. Iisa King also makes a remark about how pretty Aicchy looks in her sailor-style school uniform outfit that betrays his age. Even if you don’t get the dialog though, it’s fun to see Funassyi making the rounds with the chara so they can take photos with him, which always helps to boost their Instagram and Twitter view counts.

It’s a 360° video, by the way...

Funagoro, Funyassyi and Iisa King all showed up at the first Funassyi Birthday event session at Lalaport Tokyo Bay yesterday. Iisa King gave Funassyi some panned gold from his home town, “enough to pay for a train ticket to Shiodome from Funabashi” in Tokyo where Nippon TV is located. Funagoro and Funyassyi gave Funassyi an Aerosmith Live CD; the two little ones also came to the 2nd session. The MC for both sessions was Yuzuru Ito, aka Yuzurun, the Funassyi product manager at Nittele Service, a subsidiary of Nippon TV.
Here’s a full video of the second session, from EMI277. The huge sunflower bouquet was sent to Funassyi by Chicchai Ossan.
A total of 800 lucky fans beat more than 10 to 1 odds to win one of the seats at each of the 2 sessions.
Here’s a video of yesterday’s event at Kijima Kogen Park in Beppu, Oita in Kyushu. (The video is from “ponyomacarons”, a well known Funassyi fan.) The lim brown thing Funassyi comes on stage with is supposed to be a gobo (burdock root), to use for the spring ketsugobo ritual. (I know, it looks...like something else.) Aicchy seems understandably reluctant to hold the thing. ^_^;
Iisa King, who hails from Isa, Kagoshima prefecture in southern Kyushu, joins Funassyi and Aicchy midway. Iisa King and Funassyi have appeared together several times, so they have an easy, relaxed rapport. Although Iisa King is almost as irreverent as Funassyi, he is actually officially recognized by the city of Isa. His actions have sometimes gotten him into trouble with city officials, such as when he chased after a “honey in a swimsuit” on a late night TV show, or called his fans his “lovers”.
Around the 25:30 mark you see Funassyi and Iisa King looking up at something - apparently there was someone bungie jumping (Kijima Kogen Park sounds like a fun place) and Funassyi yells out “let’s throw stuff at him!”
As usual 30 minutes seems too short, but the crowd seem to have enjoyed it. The Funassyi Fantasy World exhibit that Funassyi just barely remembered to promote (although that was the purpose of the event) goes on until May 8th.

A couple of videos of Iisa King’s mini-talk show at Funassyiland Funabashi, which took place yesterday (previously), have been uploaded by fans. The one above has the best angle, but the audio is a bit muted, so below is an alternative -- which is a bit too up close but you can hear what The King and the host, Yuzurun (Nichitele Service’s Funassyi products manager) are saying. If you listen closely you may even be able to tune into Funyassyi’s frequency....
The talk show was nice and relaxed, in the way Funassyi talk shows can’t be anymore due to the huge crowds and hyper-excited atmosphere. Iisa King sat on the Funassyi Sofa that’s on display in the store, and pronounced it quite comfortable. He mainly talked about the times he’s appeared on TV with Funassyi (he says each time he was recommended by Funassyi to the program producers), how he met The Pear -- they both ran for the Gotouchi Chara General Election in 2013; after which Osaki Ichibantaro asked Iisa King if he wanted to appear at an event with Funassyi at Funabashi Auto Racing -- and other Funassyi related subjects. (Iisa King and some other chara appeared at a Funabashi Auto Racing event yesterday too, probably at the request of Funassyi, who was busy elsewhere.) One interesting tidbit Iisa King mentioned was that the Funassyi + other gotouchi chara collaboration mascot toy project (Iisa King’s one is shown here) was proposed by Funassyi himself (not the CEO or Rapiit, who makes the toys) as a way for chara to raise money for transportation and so forth to events and the like. Most gotouchi chara do not make a lot of money, so the ones who are not officially sanctioned and funded by government entities are pretty strapped for funds according to Iisa King, so the project was much appreciated. He added that there’s quite a lot of bitchy gossiping about other chara in the gotouchi chara world, but he’s never heard anyone say anything bad about Funassyi.
Funyassyi, who seems to have become the resident mascot of the flagship Funassyiland store, was at the talk show too, although of course it doesn’t talk so just sat there nodding and waving.
Here’s one more video, showing the final photo taking part and the departure of Iisa King and Funyassyi. Iisa King really takes good care of Funyassyi, despite teasing it a lot about its sometimes awkward movements.
