"Shhhh, shhh, it's ok. It'll all be over soon, don't worry." Mick tightens his grip a little, relishing the way bone and cartilage shift and creak beneath his fingers. The way their bloodshot eyes bore into Mick as he leans his weight down through his arms to his hands make his heart hurt. "Just relax," he coos.

Tears leak from their eyes, spilling over Mick’s fingers. He almost moves his thumbs to wipe them away, but they're too firmly pressed against that groaning windpine.

"Oh hey now, don't cry. I'm sorry, i never meant to hurt you...it just has to be this way, you understand right?"

It only takes another second, but the hands that had been clamped around his wrists loosen before falling away completely, knuckles heavily hitting the gritty ground but no pain registering.

He strokes a hand across their face, closing their eyes and cleaning the tears from their cheeks. "There we go, all done. You were perfect," he whispers as he stands up and walks away, rubbing his aching hands.
