Here's my hot(?) take: Ike is a better power fantasy than the avatar characters, especially if you are noticeably different from your peer group, but NOT because you are richer or more popular.

Here's my hot(?) take: Ike is a better power fantasy than the avatar characters, especially if you are noticeably different from your peer group, but NOT because you are richer or more popular.
Ike is not only the only Lord who is (implicitly) gay, but is likely going to be the only one who is going to be if they keep up the trend of making almost every straight ending possible for the avatar character...
And people still get so mad about it.
Friendly reminder that as of Three Houses, Ike is STILL the only Lord in Fire Emblem history to BOTH have 1. No opposite sex support endings and 2. Multiple same sex support endings.
Really makes you think, huh?
