Guatemalan vibes added to my IKEA Plant cabinet. 💚🇬🇹 What do you think?

My IKEA cabinet has most of the tropical plants that require consistent humidity and light.

This keeps humidity around 85%~90%. If it drops, I can easily turn on a small humidifier at times.

The growing lights are on a timer. I can control intensity and hours per day. 💪🏽🔥

Currently all is growing well! From begonias to heart fern to calatheas.

IKEA box terrarium

I created these two terrariums in December 2020. I barely water them (because there are some gaps in the glass so it is not a legit terrarium 😂 but about 80% legit).

Many plants have come, gone, and come back on their own. This time I see one of the alocasias. 😱

Last night we spent a few hours reorganizing and cleaning my work space.

I definitely like it better! The light now flows in such a different way, but my plants are getting the same amount. My background on Zoom is not a dark cave anymore, but a brighter one showing off my IKEA cabinet full with plants. 😎

In front, I made sure to have some beautiful paintings from my home country, Guatemala 🇬🇹.

Plants in your office space really enhance your mood and vibes. Changing them of position sometimes can boost those vibes too. 🌈

Begonia Masoniana - 3 Lessons Learned! 💚💪🏽

I found this rare begonia locally right when I got my IKEA cabinets and she was perfect for it.

Throughout this time I've learned some key items to either continue doing or avoid doing to keep her happy.

1) She loves the humidity of the cabinets! I will definitely keep her spot, she is even blooming now! Do you see the flower?

2) She is getting bright indirect light with the timer and intensity controls I have on the growing lights. She also loves that! 🌞

3) What to avoid? Avoid letting her soil dry completely. I was experimenting with this, as I thought the high humidity would help, but all the leaves were dropping and after I water her, I lost 2 leaves. Now, I'm not letting dry that much, just the top inch of the soil and I already see a new leaf coming out!

Calathea White Fusion - brought back to life! 😂

In this world it is easier to focus on the plant that is struggling or the one that died and yes, it's important to learn from those experiences, but we have to enjoy moments like this. I f***ing brought this calathea back. 🎉💚🎉💃 Send some awesome emojis on the comments!

✓ Identify the problem quickly. Don't wait too long to research. I wasn't giving her the humidity levels she needed. Because of where I placed her, it was easy to forget to water too.

***Don't feel afraid or embarrassed to ask. If you are struggling with any plant, send me a pic though DM. I'm happy to help you!

✓Clean the dead leaves. Help the plant focus on new growth.

✓Be consistent. Most calatheas require high humidity (~70-90%). So I first moved her to my second floor shelves that has a humidifier. Later I moved her to my IKEA cabinets!

IM SCREAMING (again 😂)

It took us 1.5 years to finally get it. 💚 My husband helped me to assemble (of course), so credits to him! 😂 I was filming the process. 😬

The lights are on a timer and they have different levels to adjust. they weren't that expensive.

I also got a small humidifier. Today I'm getting a humidity meter and a small fan for airflow.

This literally made my month. 🎉🎉🎉

I'll be introducing some of the plants in the near future!
