Fenrir.

A whisper in his ear, but no hot breath to accompany it.

Fen-rir.

The tone sweet as honey, pitched high like a schoolgirl calling her to crush.

He refused to acknowledge it, head dropped down and eyes wrenched closed, willing it to disappear and torture him no more.

Fenrir, what are you doing?

“You ain’t real.” His own voice dry and strangled, exhausted from the fight. Arms numb, wrists bruised from the shackles secured to the damp wall above him. A shell of a man once called the Ace of Spades.

Chilled air swirled around him, and for a moment, his world spun. Her scent of antiseptic with a hint of rose from her shampoo that he’d picked out for her. It washed a wave of relief over him.

Amethyst eyes peeked upward, catching a glimpse of the one he wished most to see before him. Raven black hair tied back, pale blue eyes, pink lips he longed to feel against his own. Transparent through hazy, trembling vision. “Soph-”

Why couldn’t you save me?

The ghost dissipating before he could fully conjure her image. In its wake, an empty cell smeared with blood, the metallic smell strong enough that Fenrir could taste it on his dry tongue.

His breath caught in his throat, unable to stop the shrill scream filling his ears. Her scream. A few feet from him, just out of reach, the woman he loved had been brutally beaten, tortured, cut open and sloppily stitched up to prolong the pain. 

“Not her, please.”

He spoke to the past, none there to hear him now.

“Me-me-me. It should have me!”

Voice rising in volume, crackling like a fire fighting for its life before it could be snuffed out into the coals.

“Sophia!” 

His shout of her name echoed down the empty hall of the cells tucked down in the catacombs beneath the city. The light of day had never touched these retched halls.

He couldn’t protect her.

His heart throbbing within his chest. Eyes burning from the tears rolling down his chilled cheeks. Sobs wracking his entire body.

Fenrir began to scream until he ran out of breath. Inhaled deeply only to begin again, until nothing but the sound of his own voice rang against his eardrums, etching his own failures into his mind.

With no more voice to give but a hoarse apology to an abandoned cell, the man dropped his head again.

Sophia would never return to him.

He suffered alone until his end.

Magic the Chapmans harness is ancient, powerful, and more complex than modern magic. Stories of old have stated the ancestor of the family was gifted the capability to use such magic through Divine Intervention. No one knows why or how this came to be, for the records were lost centuries ago, and no one is for certain where they are located. The Magic Tower learned about this magic, seeking it for their own purposes, kidnapping members with this magic to conduct inhumane experiments on them. The experiments conducted were so gruesome that most of their test subjects perished, resulting the Magic Tower to be thorough with concealing the evidence, leaving no traces behind.

The previous Kings of Hearts and Spades investigated the incidents, suspecting the Magic Tower of these heinous crimes, but found no such evidence to back up their claims, thus the cases went unsolved.

Lancelot reopened the cases sometime after Eirene appeared in Cradle, researching into her background. However, he found nothing about her in Cradle's public records, stopping his search when Amon caught wind of it, informing him of the history revolving around the Chapman family name.

The Archon Seal is engraved on the skin of their upper back, an obvious sign that the user is part of the Chapman family, making them easily distinguishable from people with ordinary magic. The Thirteen requested the Chapmans find a better way to hone their abilities, so that the civilians aren't harmed.

The seal itself restrains the magic from going haywire, appearing once the user becomes of age. It keeps the Angel inside of them from taking every opportunity to control the vessel. It is a connection between the user and the Angel, acting like a conductor for the host to harness its' magic. The user will experience a burning sensation along their upper back once the seal has been activated, it usually lasts up to a few seconds, allowing the user to fully manifest the characteristics of the Angel within them.

The Telesmic Stages

The Aeon stage is the beginning of the four telesmic stages, and appears once the Archon Seal is activated. The user has no control over the Angel within them, and have limitations with their magical capabilities.

The first sign that the user has entered this stage is by looking directly at their eyes. However, one might note that they are eeriely similar to the red eyes of those who harnesses ordinary magic. Upon closer inspection, a distinctive pattern forms along the pupil as veins near their temples bulge.

The user will manifest barely noticeable wings with no halo. Despite their magical limitation, they are still a formidable force to be reckoned with. The seal will contain the Angel once the user becomes hyper-aware.

Eirene had entered this stage upon finding herself in the conflict between the Red and the Black armies. The Angel within her sensed ill intent and, once the Archon Seal activated, controlled Eirene completely. She had only used simple spells by the time Blanc and Oliver arrived. The two stopped her before she could do any real damage.

The Pleroma stage is similar to the first stage, with the same eerie red eyes. The only difference is that the user will manifest five transparent wings rather than four, and still lack a halo. Their magic pushes passed the limitations of the Archon Seal, allowing raw energy to seep through the cracks of the restraints containing the Angel inside them.

Eirene entered this stage upon honing her magic with the help of Harr Silver after learning about the truth of her father from Amon. It was due to her emotional distress, which caused her to nearly hurt the people she came to cherish with all of her heart. Although it was not her fault, nor was she aware that it happened, she blamed herself.

The Gnosis stage is an incomplete form of Gnosis Overload. The user can manifest all six wings, a transparent halo, and still be able to harness Angelic magic. Although their magic is not at its' full potential, it can still cause extensive damage to surrounding areas. Even while in this state, the user is not in control, therefore, the Angel goes haywire upon sensing ill intent. It cannot distinguish friend from foe, though someone close to the user can reach them with their voice.

Users who achieved Gnosis are able to keep up with those who mastered Gnosis Overload, but cannot defeat them in battle.

Erza Chapman was a user who achieved Gnosis right before his death. He transferred the majority of his magic to his daughter, Eirene Chapman. Amon Jabberwock murdered him by extracting the Angel from his body, sealing the Angel within himself.

The Gnosis Overload is the final stage a user can achieve. Their magical potential is passed its' limitation, and is at their most powerful. At this point, the user has fully manifested all the characteristics of the Angel inside of them. However, this does not mean the user is invincible, as they can still die even while in this form. Killing them will be a tough feat to accomplish, though not impossible. Find their weakness, exploit it.

Angels wield sacred relics known as Holy Artifacts. They are the Warriors of the Divine. Users can conjure these artifacts to wield in times of peril, but these weapons are at their strongest when used in Gnosis Overload. The ancestor of the Chapmans wielded the Gauntlets of the Abyss, also known as the Fists of Destruction. It was said he used these sacred relics to protect the country of Cradle. Another case is that Erza Chapman was able to conjure the sacred relic Excalibur, also known as the Holy Sword of the Heavens, for a brief time.

Arion Chapman was able to completely master Gnosis Overload, and conjure the sacred relic Vijaya Dhanush, also known as the Bow of Victory. His Angel is the only one that has fallen from the Grace of the Divines.

After her noble intentions of sacrificing herself for the sake of Cradle, Eirene Chapman achieved Gnosis Overload after intermixing her father's magic with her own. She conjured the sacred relics the Lances of Longinus, also known as the Lances of Destiny, and used them to defeat Arion Chapman in battle restoring peace at last.

Additional Notes

Unlike people harnessing ordinary magic, the Chapmans do not have to worry about Angelic magic chipping away their lifespans, which is the very reason the Magic Tower wanted to research and experiment on them.

The defining characteristic of an Angel is their Grace. It is an energy all Angels are consisted of, it is a material only unique to them. It is an energy of creation, of Divinity, of the Goddess.

The Chapmans are the only ones capable of harboring the Grace without suffering from the harmful effects.

In the darkness of night, a lone figure moves out of Red Territory and sneaks into Black territory, sneaking past the guards and hiding along the edge of the forest. Her horse is near silent as she approaches behind the stables, letting it rest in an empty stall. She approaches the Black Army headquarters, scaling up the side of the wall, and creeping in through an open window. A figure sits on the bed, his fingers running through his hair in thought. Lowering her hood, she approaches the bed silently, navigating the towers of books with ease before sitting on the bed and hugging the man from behind. 

“Won’t they miss you?” His husky voice is music to her ears as she presses her ear to his back, soaking up the warmness radiating through his shirt. 

“Maybe, but not as much as I’ve missed you,” She murmurs in the quiet room, squeezing her arms around him tighter. She presses kisses on his neck, just above his collar. Her nose brushes his skin and the King shivers. 

“Come here, let me hold you properly” He reaches behind him and pulls her into his lap, his emerald eyes softening when he meets her light blue ones. “Evelynn, my love” His voice fades as their lips meet in a kiss. Melting into his embrace, Evelynn cups his cheeks and presses against his chest, her fingers getting lost in the buttons of his shirt.

“Ray-” Her voice holds all the longing of the past few months. She shifts slightly, straddling the King and feeling her core rub against his length, moaning softly at the stimulation.  

Deepening their kiss, Ray reaches up to the back of her dress, unlacing it and watching the top fall down. He kisses her bare skin, eyes taking in the dark blue and black lace lingerie cladding her breasts. A bow keeps her breasts secure and he teases it, running his fingers along the ribbon and pressing kisses along her bare skin. Ray peppers kisses against her exposed skin, running his tongue along the lace guarding her breasts. 

“Look at how gorgeous you are, such a doll” Ray murmurs against her skin, his hands reaching up to unclip her hair, watching it cascade in waves to her waist. His eyes darken in lust, his fingers pressing against her hips.

“I never want to let you go when you look like this. Let me love you” He murmurs, standing up to his full height and capturing her lips in a desperate kiss. 

“You never have to ask. Please, Ray, I need you to love me” she whispers against his lips, rubbing her leg up his. . Picking her up in his arms, he lays her down on the bed, groaning when he sees her spread across his bed so invitingly. Her golden hair spreads around her like a halo. She shivers as she senses his eyes watching her, dark with a predatory gaze as he crawls up her body. His mouth finds the bow holding her breasts hostage, and he tugs it with his teeth, finally watching the fabric give. Not pausing, Ray captures a nipple in his mouth, his hand caressing her other breast. Evelynn shuts her eyes, breathy moans escaping her lips as she weaves her fingers in Ray's hair.

“Because you are absolutely adorable.” His voice lowers “I love watching you like this.” His voice darkens huskily “Look at how you writhe and moan, just from me paying attention to you.” Evelynn can’t stop her shivers, arching into his touch, a smile on her face. Using his lips alone, Ray trails down her body, her legs going over his shoulders as he uses his teeth to tug  her bottoms off. He presses marks against the skin of her thigh, trailing a line to her core.

“Ray!” Louder than she meant, she covers her lips with wide eyes. Ray ignores her, pulling her hand with one hand and using his tongue to explore her core.  Pushing his tongue into her, he presses his nose to her clit to listen to the moans. 

“I’ve missed you” His breath tickles her clit, watching her eyes close as the pleasure floods her body. Riding the edge, she rocks her hips, needing more from him, the desire for something thicker racing through her mind.

“Should I mark you for everyone to see? Show everyone you’re taken, and not by the damn Queen of Hearts, ” Ray growls against her skin and she whimpers, feeling him press the mark below where her collar lays. Her eyes roll as pleasure courses through her body. 

“Ray-” She murmurs, the talk between her brother and the Clemence family has been getting more frequent, the Clemence family pushing her into marrying Jonah. Marks pressing into her skin pull her from her thoughts. 

“Stop thinking about him, you’re with me” Ray murmurs and Evelynn looks up at him, worry clouding her sky-blue eyes. 

“I don’t want to think about him” She murmurs, “Ray, please-” Help me forget. She couldn’t finish that sentence, they both knew the answer to escaping those talks. Ray tweaks her nipple, waiting until her eyes focus on his. He presses kisses against her lips, promises on his tongue as he drives the thoughts from her mind. His fingers go back to her clit, rubbing circles as her body arches from the sensitivity.

You are my everything” Ray whispers, watching her start to drift off to sleep. A dagger stabs through his heart when he looks up at the moon racing across the sky. He knew it was only a matter of hours before she would leave his side.

“Hey Ray, I have to go” Her voice is a whisper in the room. The moon is lowering in the sky and Evelynn knows she has very little time to get back to headquarters unnoticed. 

“No” Ray murmurs, wrapping his arms tighter around her. “I just like keeping you close. You’re so warm” he whispers, snuggling her closer to his body. His lips press against her neck as his leg wraps around her waist, pressing his length against her. A low moan escapes her lips as she tries to keep her mind focused. Turning in his arms, she looks into his eyes, doubts clouding her mind, the most painful part of seeing him.

“Ray-” Evelynn sighs, pressing a kiss to his lips. With whispers of love, she slowly works herself out of Ray’s arms, fighting her heart the whole way.  Sneaking into the bathroom she dresses again, her eyes momentarily wandering over the faint marks. With a flash of lavender, her skin goes back to being flawless as she puts her blond hair back up in a bun. She steps out of the bathroom and notices Ray is propped up on his pillow watching her. 

“Stay with us” he pleads, the same words every time she goes to leave. Shaking her head, Evelynn whispers in the quiet bedroom. 

“I can’t” Pressing her lips to his she lets them etch her love across his. She deepens the kiss, kneeling next to the King, hesitant to let go. However, as the room lightens with the approaching dawn she pulls away hesitantly.

“I really need to go” The dark would be fading and she had to be crossing into Red Territory by the time the sun was above the horizon. Creeping out the window she feels a  figure watching her. Turning to him she smiles warmly as he gives her a bag of warm food that she can eat on the ride back. 

“I packed you some breakfast,” Luka murmurs, stepping closer to her. Her eyes light up slightly as she takes in her best friend. Doubt and sadness still cloud her gaze, but she forces a smile anyway. 

“I always adore your cooking, I’m jealous that they get to eat it all the time” She teases with a wink. Luka smiles softly at her, he knows this part kills her, one of the only people who know about the depth of her relationship with Ray. "Thank you, Luka,” She whispers back, wrapping an arm around her childhood friend.

“Of Course Ev, please take care of yourself” He whispers before she mounts her horse. He walks next to her horse till she gets to the gate, finally calling out to her. 

“Hey Ev,” He waits for her to turn her head before continuing. “You know you always have a place here with us right? We will protect you from anyone who tries to get you” Luka asks and a dagger goes through Evelynn's heart. She nods slowly. 

“I know Luka, I wish I could say yes already” she admits and Luka shoots her an understanding look. 

“Well, it will stay an option for as long as you need to decide” Luka murmurs and Evelynn gives him a smile filled with heartbreak as she rides off. 

Her horse is fairly silent in the rising sun. Passing back into the Central Quarter, she takes the regular back alleys, stopping just before Black territory fades from view.  

Two hearts forever entwined but a love forbidden by blood. As the sun completely breaks over the horizon, Evelynn takes one last look over her shoulder. To betray her family for true love, or to betray her true love for family and honor. The tears fall down her face as she thinks of a reason. Any reason to go back and stay wrapped up in his arms.

The fall air is chilled around the quiet cabin as Sirius approaches. The windows and doors are shut tight against the chill, and hearing a voice singing, he steps around to the back of the cabin, following the path to where the vegetable gardens lay. A figure is hunched over one of the beds, harvesting turnips and potatoes. Her hands stop when she hears the approaching footsteps. 

"Moon, I've missed you" her face lights up as she tilts her face up to look at Sirius, her pale green eyes struggle to focus on his face.

“And I've missed you Sunflower" Sirius places down the package he is carrying on a bench and slips his hands out of his gloves. 

"You really should go in soon, your freezing" He scolds, cupping her cheeks and noticing the flush developing along her skin.

"Mmm, your so warm" Irene murmurs, shutting her eyes as she melts against his warmth. A flush breaks out on Sirius’s face, a rare gentleness in his amethyst eyes as he glances down at Irene. Noticing the basket full of turnips and potatoes, he chuckles. 

"Come on, we can clean what you have, and catch up. I don't want you getting sick" Slipping his gloves into his pocket, he places the basket on the package and picks both up. “Here, I have the basket, just take my arm” He murmurs, helping her get to her feet. Her hand wraps delicately around his arm, following his lead back into the little cabin. Irene leaves his side as they enter the kitchen. Taking the basket of vegetables from him, she motions for the table in the corner of the kitchen. 

“Sit Moon, I’ll prepare some tea for us and warm up some muffins,” she nudges the Quene to the table and sets the basket by the sink. Sirius watches as Irene moves confidently around the kitchen, making tea and warming up some of the muffins. 

“Is Apple butter alright for the muffins?” Irene asks, placing the kettle on a tray with the muffins. 

“Whatever you would like” Sirius answers, watching as she brings the treats over. “Thank you” He takes the offered tea cup and muffin, as she sits across from him. Pleasant conversation fills the cabin as Sirius tells Irene about the antics her brother and Fenrir have been getting into. Irene tells him about the recent outing she had with Anna, Rose, and Aria picking apples and harvesting a huge part of her garden. When the tea runs out and the sun shifts in the sky, Sirius suddenly remembers why he visited Irene in the first place.

“I brought you a present” Sirius sets down the teacup and watches the surprise register on Irene’s face. 

“Oh?” Irene tilts her head gently. “Sirius-” 

“I wanted to, I know how much take care of others” he can see how hesitant she is and he quickly cuts in. Handing her the package, he guides her hand to the ribbon of the box. “Open it for me?” He holds his breath as Irene ponders accepting the gift before a small smile broke out on her face and she finally nods 

“Alright Moon, thank you” Her fingers undo the ribbon, unwrapping the box and opening the lid. Setting the box on her lap, her fingers explore the box. 

“Boots?” She guesses and Sirius lets out an affirmative hum as Irene picks them up and trails her fingers along the laces. “There are flowers on the laces” she observes. 

“Rose embroidered the boots and laces for me. They have Daisies, irises, and Forget me nots on them.” Sirius explains, watching as Irene’s smile grows. 

“You didn’t have to” She whispers softly, her fingers moving to the flowers around the top of the boots and down the side of the laces. 

“Having to and wanting to are two completely different things. Rose mentioned to me that your boots were getting worn out and that you needed some new ones. So I got them for you.” Sirius smirks at the memory of Rose relentlessly hinting that Sirius should get her the boots, reminding himself to thank her later. “I know but Rose-” Irene’s voice trails off and her smile only grows, reaching her hand out for Sirius’s hand. “Thank you, Sirius, these boots are amazing” Her face conveys her true feelings and Sirius’s heart beats louder in his chest. Kneeling next to Irene, he takes one of her boots. 

“Let me put them on and we can test them out” He murmurs, smiling when she relaxes her leg and lets him lift it on her knee. Slipping off her old worn boots, he ties her new ones, admiring the little flowers that were embroidered with love from Rose. When both boots were on he slowly stands up, noticing Irene wiggling her feet to test them out. 

“They are so comfy-” Irene stands up and walks around the kitchen before turning to Sirius with a smile. “Thank you so much” she thanks him again, pressing up on her tippy toes, to kiss his cheek.

“Do you want to come to Headquarters for dinner? I’m sure Ray would love to see you and Luka is cooking your favorite”  Sirius offers, watching as Irene lights up at her brother’s name. 

“I would love to if it isn’t too much of a hassle. I actually have some stuff for you guys.” Irene perks up at his offer, going over to her pantry and returning with a basket. 

“My plants were plentiful this year so I have way more food than I need. I canned some good and made some jams, and teas and I added some apple butter,” she explains sheepishly. Sirius laughs, looking through the basket of goodies and letting out a hum. 

“You didn’t have to do this for us Irene” He murmurs and she shakes her head. 

“I mean go look at my pantry and gardens. I have plenty, way more than I need. Besides, you guys took care of me for so long and looked after me, let me thank you. Besides as someone I love said, ‘wanting to and having to are two separate things” the amusement in her voice has Sirius shaking his head. 

“You can’t use my words against me in the same visit Sunflower” He smiles down, pressing his lips to her cheek. “Very well, let's go bring these treats back to the others, I’m sure no one will turn down all these goodies, those brats can really eat” he laughs, guiding Irene toward the door. The basket in hand. Once they are dressed warmly and Irene holds onto Sirius’s arm, the two leave the cabin, securing it behind them. 

The crunching of leaves under their feet fills the air and Irene turns her face to the sun, soaking up the fall sun. Her new boots don’t hurt her feet in the slightest and having Sirius with her makes her day so much better. 

“Sirius, can you tell me about the leaves this year?” Irene asks, and Sirius squeezes her arm. His voice is gentle as he describes the meadows, and trees they pass, their leaves now all shades of orange, brown, and red. He tells Irene about the flowers blooming in his family shop. She soaks it all in, absorbing every detail she can, remembering as much detail from her seeing days as she can to understand what they are describing. 

Her fingers trace Sirius’s glove whenever she gets overwhelmed and he pauses so she can take a minute to process the information. Their conversation tampers off naturally and silence falls between the two. Irene rests her head on Sirius’s shoulder, processing all the colors and memories of fall. She can feel the warmth of his body, holding her emotions in place as peace washes over them.

It is early afternoon by the time the Queen of Spades finally emerges from the office, having been cooped up with meeting after meeting. Wanting to see his family, he hunts around the base for the giggling twins and his fiance, following the voices into the courtyard. He is caught off guard by the chaotic mess, his eyebrows furrowing.

“So this is where my clothes went to?” Sirius snorts when he looks around the field near the garden. Leaves are scattered in piles with garments next to them. His pants, one of his long sleeve shirts, his old gardening hat, boots, and gloves are all thrown around the courtyard, the twins were playing in the pile of leaves next to Jaz as she ties off his pants with some brown rope.

“I mean making a scarecrow with a dress is kind of impossible. Besides, I am not that scary” Jaz giggles, looking up at Sirius with a wink. Aaliyah stands up from her side and runs over to his side, pulling on his pant leg.

“Dada play” Aaliyah babbles, staring up with her large green/gold eyes. Melting from the pleading look, Sirius kneels next to her and brushes her curls from her face.

“You want me to help?” Aaliyah nods and catches his hand, trying to lead him over to where Jaz and Alistar are sitting. Following the 2-year-old, he sits with her and helps her stuff the leaves into the pair of pants. Jaz and Alistar take one pant leg, creating a race with Sirius and Ayah, the twins giggling as they fill the legs.

“We win!” Sirius tickles Aaliyah's stomach to hear her giggles. Jaz lets out a laugh at the two of them before tilting her head.

“Do you want to know the prize?” She asks, kneeling next to Aaliyah and watching her nod. “You get to go pick out the pumpkin to use for his head” Jaz smiles and Aaliyah gets excited.

“Pumin, Dada” Turning to Sirius her hands clasp around his fingers, tugging him over to the garden. Letting out a laugh at the toddler, Sirius chases after her and pics her up to put on his shoulders as they walk over to the pumpkin patch.

“Alright, little one, which one should we use for the head? We need to find one that looks like a head. Which one do you want?” He asks, setting her down on the edge of the patch. His heart is full of love and adoration for the little toddler as she runs along the side of the patch looking for the perfect pumpkin. watches as she runs along the bed, her eyes looking over all their pumpkins. Finally, she moves over to a large pumpkin that is just beginning to turn ripe.

“Pumin” she points, trying to hug the pumpkin to her chest. Letting out a laugh, Sirius picks up the pumpkin with ease, setting Aaliyah back on his other hip to bring her to the others.

“Pumpkin face acquired. Alistar, do you want ot help us draw the face?” Sirius calls for the other toddler, watching his eyes light up as he runs over. With both the twins between his legs, Sirius pulls out some black paint and gives each toddler a brush.

“First we need some eyes” He starts, helping guide Aaliyah first to make the first eye, before doing the same with Alistair, snickering when he sees the eyes of the scarecrow. “Now we need his nose and smile.” Drawing on the mouth, he feels the twins squirming. Looking up he sees Jaz raking some of the leaves for the shirt and the twins rush over to the forming pile to ambush her and they jump in the leaves.

“Babies, look at your hair, there are leaves everywhere” she giggles, sitting in the leaves with them and brushing the leaves out of their hair. Giggles and babbles are music to Sirius’s ears as he uses a knife to cut out the scarecrow’s face, sticking a candle in the pumpkin to cast a glow. Standing up he also finds some sticks to stuff down the back. Approaching the three playing in the leaves, he shows both the head and the sticks to the toddlers. Alistar starts giggling at the face while Ayah hides against Jaz, glancing shyly at the “monster”

“Scary” she murmurs softly, and Jaz giggles, taking the pumpkin in one hand while she holds Ayah's hand out.

“Look Ayah, nothing scary here” She coaxes the toddler to touch the scarecrow's face and after a minute, Ayah is back to normal.

The sky starts to change colors as the scarecrow is put together. The twins help Sirius rake all the leaves as Jaz sews the waist together, sews the gloves to the shirt, and attaches the boots to his pants.

Helping Sirius dig a hole, he takes the stake and attaches the scarecrow to it before adding it to the ground, turning it to the gate, and letting it overlook all the gardens.

“What is going on here?” Voices break the family from their concentration as Ray and Fenrir appear from a meeting, and the twins start talking over each other as they ‘explain’.

“Another, another” starting to chant, they beg Fenrir to contribute, wanting the Ace to join in on the shenanigans.

“Oh, you want to make a scarecrow of me?” Throwing Alistair up in the air, Fenrir chases the kids around the gardens, Ray on his heels as they tire out the twins. Sirius helps Jaz clean up the area of supplies, occasionally scolding the officers for acting like children as they chase the tots, catching them and throwing them up in the air before putting them down to run again. While Jaz joins Luka in the kitchen to make dinner, Sirius actually tries to rake the remaining part of the courtyard, scolding whoever dares run in his piles under the setting sun.

It isn’t until just after dark that the light in the scarecrow comes to life, turning it into a guardian of the garden. The twins watch in awe, clapping as they beg for another. Sirius scoops up the tots in his arms, promising them to make another later, and takes them inside to get ready for dinner, a smile on his face as the toddlers snuggle into him, clearly exhausted from running around the courtyard most of the day.
