What are your headcanons as far as Ike, Soren, and Ranulf go?

Anon you don’t even know. I have so many. Too many. I’m assuming you mean all of them together, if you want headcanons for each of them individually feel free to send another ask!

okay so I’m assuming we all know their interactions in canon but I’ll do a quick overview

Soren and Ranulf don’t interact much (if at all) without someone else there, but they both get along really well with Ike and I don’t recall them ever antagonizing eachother?

like Ranulf shows interest in Ike as soon as their first interaction when Ike apologizes for using the word subhuman and asks what he prefers to be called, and as far as I recall Soren is actually rather nice to him? (well nice for Soren, bby is blunt to the point of being rude)

and both Ranulf and Soren are so sassy, you can see Ike get sassier throughout the games under their influence. they should bond over that because no one else comes close

there’s also a point in the extra (japanese exclusive I believe) scenes near the end of Radiant Dawn where Ranulf allows Soren to ride him in beast form to get somewhere (I haven’t played this game in years forgive me) and it’s portrayed as a practical thing “you couldn’t get there in time with that wimpy beorc body of yours” but that sort of thing still takes a huge amount of trust which I cannot properly convey without getting into Tellius politics

so at the very least Soren and Ranulf respect and trust eachother, and they both really like Ike so

why does Ike have to choose? why can’t both Soren and Ranulf leave with him never to be seen again at the end of Radiant Dawn?

I imagine Ranulf might feel like the odd one out at first because of how close Ike and Soren are (seriously I didn’t realize they weren’t dating until my third playthrough of PoR, they give off the same vibes as Pent and Louise) but Ike would be able to bridge that gap really fast, especially since Soren isn’t really opposed to Ranulf

like. they have so much they could bond over honestly it’s a shame they don’t get more canon interaction. longevity, the fact that they’re both going to outlive Ike, having the role of strategist/caretaker (Ranulf for Scrimmir or however you spell his name, Soren for Ike)

I’ll be honest, it may never get heated or overly romantic without Ike there, but I think they would be really comfortable, like they’re not just both revolving around Ike, they start to revolve around eachother too

sorry that got kind of shippy, it doesn’t have to be though. they can all be really close with or without occasional smooching

that being said, these are all lowkey shippy to me:

they have lots of casual touch and closeness and cuddling, Ike initiates the most. he’ll brush arms or throw an arm around their shoulders or sit closer than necessary. and sometimes Soren points it out and Ike always says “I can stop/move if you want”

Ranulf on the other hand would be pretty forward about it? I mean he’s a cat, they’re very forward when they want your attention. he’ll sidle up next to one of them to cuddle, or lean heavily on them just because he likes the contact but he’ll be all dramatic about it like “catch meeee”

also on the topic of Ranulf being a cat, imagine him doing cat things and Ike and Soren are just like “remember when we used to think you were this impressive, cool soldier/general?”

one time they’re staying in a castle/fort/manor and it’s about time to head to dinner with the lord who lives there (who insisted they come stay with him wen he heard Ike was in town) so they’re looking for Ranulf and they find him sleeping on the sill of one of those really high up windows and Soren’s like how did he even get up there????

Soren has since learned not to question it

Ike and Ranulf both have so much energy like sometimes Soren can’t keep up. They’ll walk all day and then set up camp and Ike and Ranulf will start play wrestling?? How are they not tired??? At that point Soren decides to take some well needed alone time

when Ranulf decides to sleep in his kitty form Soren sleeps leant against his side and he curls around the tiny mage

height differences!!!!! idk about canon, but I headcanon Ike is about 2-3 inches taller than Ranulf and more built, Ranulf is 5-6 inches taller than Soren and has a more lithe/compact build, and Soren is an angry slender smoll

Soren gets kind of overwhelmed sometimes since he’s a pretty solitary person, and he’ll go find a nice secluded spot to read and recharge for a while. Ike and Ranulf respect his space and have learned to read him so well they know when he doesn’t want to be touched and when to leave him be

also Soren is demi, Ike is bi, and Ranulf is pan I will fight y’all on this
