Chapter 16 - Parchment and Ink
I Knew It All Along by littlerose13
“Are you awake?” came a murmur from behind Scorpius’ back. He had his knees hugged to his chest, staring out into the room and blinking rapidly.
“Yes,” Scorpius said into the darkness. “I’m too excited to sleep.”
He felt the mattress shift and Albus moved to encase Scorpius’ shoulders in his arms, hugging him to his body from behind. “Classic you,” he breathed into Scorpius’ ear.
“Actually, this is very uncharacteristic of me,” Scorpius pointed out. “I’m not overthinking this in the slightest.”
Albus retracted slightly, craning his neck to meet Scorpius’ eye. “Are you not?”
Scorpius paused and took stock of his thoughts, a huge grin falling over his features when he remembered again what had happened only hours earlier. He turned over in Albus’ arms so they were facing each other.
“Albus, it just makes so much sense, like it was meant to be her. And I know we have a lot to think about still and we mustn’t rush this in any way, but it just feels… right , somehow. Do you know what I mean?”
Albus blinked and nodded slowly. “I know what you mean.”
“Be completely honest though, because it has to feel this right for you too.”
“Scor, it does,” Albus breathed, running his hand up and down the top of Scorpius’ bare arm. “It really does feel like the right choice.”
