Last week I was organising an exhibition with my colleague and there were these four prints the artist said went together. So I spent a lot of time lining them up right and hanging them level.
Yesterday was the exhibition opening and it was the first time the artist saw what we'd done with his work after he'd dropped it off. He was really pleased, but.. one of those aforementioned prints needed to be crooked. It showed a table with a coffee spill; if it was straight how was the coffee gonna spill?
I love the way it looks, honestly, very playful and it actually looks intentional. But we were talking about it a little bit before people started arriving and the artist said "just wait and see.. someone's going to correct it and I'm curious how long it will take."
An hour later he was giving a short speech to officially open the exhibit, standing in front of the crooked print, he turns to look at it and whad'ya know: they're perfectly straight. The artist, my colleague and I start laughing - once it's explained the audience also starts laughing, and the person who did it was mortified.
So I'm gonna have to check every time someone's visited lol.
