Quelle Chris – Guns – I couldn’t pick one, so I went with two. I for a long time was resistant to ‘art’ rap. I was a fool, I know. I listened to this nonstop for a few weeks. With every new listen I realized more and more how ‘street’ rap sounds lame compared to it. It’s not about ‘political statement’ (I have twitter and magazine articles for that) and not about ‘social commentary’ (I have books for that). It’s about art. How natural and crafted it is. How ironic in the age of the end of irony. It’s not play acting politics, it doesn’t force feed you with ‘woke’ ideas and notions, it doesn’t make you to be ‘committed’ with a gun to your head.
Illa Ghee – The Whole Half Of It – This is like as if Sean Price didn’t die and released it under the pen name Illa Ghee. This is better than all posthumous Price albums combined.

EvillDewer – Slime Rituals – Just beats. Some of them scary.
Thу Alchemist – Rewind - The Tape Deck 2010-2019 – Nice comp from a fellow rap blogger.
Bun B & Statik Selektah – TrillStatik – I can’t imagine a single person (even among Bun B fans since day one) who could stomach it. It’s just not music.
Lil B – 28 Wit A Ladder – Shame on me because I only gave it one listen. It’s a double CD release in a digital era, full of irony and ignorance. You can’t fake it.
Kool Keith – Blast bw Uncrushable EP – Short slab from the legend. It’s OK.
Chris Crack – The Future Will Be Confusing – New (new new) one from the rap mocker number 1.
MED & Guilty Simpson – Child Of The Jungle – I like Guilty Simpson but it’s not up his best effort.
OMB Peezy – Preacher To The Streets – It’s so bad that after 4 listens I don’t remember a single parcel from it. Apart from one track that is just outstanding. It’s ‘One Me’ with Sada. And the beat on it, just crazy.
Shy Glizzy – Covered N Blood – It’s probably me, not Glizzy but I didn’t feel it.
Hit-Boy and SOB x RBE – Family Not A Group – More kinda collage than an album. Every part of it is OK but together it felt soulless.
Waka Flocka Flame – Salute Me or Shoot Me 6 – Shoot me.
OBN Jay – No Weakness – One big weakness.
ShooterGang Kony – 194 – Nice but you expect more from Kony.
Zaytoven – Make America Trap Again – The kind of release that is made to boost producer’s ego.
The Alchemist – Rappers Best Friend 5 An Instrumental Series – Nice EP for what it is. I prefer somebody rap over Al’s beats.
Tree – WE Grown NOW – Outstanding. Mature. ‘Art.’ For grown-ups only.
Conway the Machine – Everybody Is FOOD – A remaster or something. I didn’t listen to it when it first came out. The beat on the last track here is so cold you need to listen to it in a hot bath.
Conway the Machine – Everybody Is FOOD 3 – Another short slab from Conway. I liked it a lot.
