Here's my Vintage Fruit Labels Art for March #PortfolioClub2020 assignment! . Well, when this month started who knew what a crazy world we would be left in. I created my illustration inspired by the Greek Goddess Persephone tale. The young Goddess was trapped in the Underworld by Hades and only convinced/tricked to stay there (at least for half the year) by the sweet taste of a pomegranate seed. It seems like a pretty relevant story these days as we are all feeling a bit trapped in our spaces. Hopefully, you can all connect in some way with your family and loved ones. . Folktaleweek Day 7: Crown The last illustration for FolktaleWeek! I decided to illustrate Queen Mab, the queen of the fairies. She has been legend in English and Scottish folklore and most famously written about by Shakespeare. I imagine her floating through the forest checking in on all the fairies wearing her forest crown. . Follow along on Instagram! #folktaleweek2019 #folktaleweek Happy Folktale Week! . Folktaleweek Day 1 HOME I chose the Italian folktale, "The Parsley Girl" for my "Home" illustration. It is similar to the more famous Rapunzel story where a witch locks a sweet young girl in her talk tower for her whole life. . For my illustration, I was pretty fascinated by how this mess got all started. The Parsley Girl's mothers' only vice was her pregnancy cravings. She got a bit obsessed with all the sweet Parsley growing in her neighbors yard and couldn't help herself from stealing a bit. But then...she was caught in the act! Mom is then cursed to give her soon to be born child to the witch in exchange for the stolen herbs. Of course, the Mom thinks this makes total sense and the girl is locked away because you know a few sprigs of Parsley is totally equal to a girl's life, right? . . . Want to join Folktaleweek?
