Lyra the Moth.
Illusionist, Illusion Opal Owner, Trickster, Interrogator, Information Gatherer, and Master Manipulator.
Lyra always had a truth seeing gift. See the lies in the words, the deception in actions, and work her way around them. She outsmarts and outplays everyone who tries to play her. Lyra sees all the angles and meanings of a plot, which made her an excellent double agent for the Resistance/Freedom Fighters. Even more so after she discovered a new powerful opal gemstone. After being separated from her team in a remote Eggman Base in the mountains, she was plagued by a series of haunting images. Memories, monsters, and recurring locations. But with her keen perception, Lyra knew they were some kind of ruse and persisted. That’s when she found it, an opal projecting images around it, like some defense mechanism to frighten off potential threats. Once she touched it, all those visions ceased. Lyra tested the gem, she imaged something and it appeared as an illusion in front of her. She saw what great use in this Illusion Opal as she named it. Some time after she discovered it, she blacked out and woke up by her teams' mysteriously a week later. Truly with it she would be a great resistance soldier/freedom fighter, a master of deception, and more than that. Lyra could maybe do good as well as Sonic and his friends. When you face Lyra the Moth and her Illusion Opal, no one will truly know what is real and what is not, including victory.
The Illusion Opal is fully capable of decimating ones grip on reality. While Lyra is an accomplished illusionist, her powers have their limits. The Opal's power give her abilities beyond what she could do on her own, at least until she grows strong enough. It allows her to conjure illusions that can fool cameras and machines, conceal voices, cast illusion shadows, and with immense concentration illusions with mass and touch. The Illusion Opal also has a last resort defense mechanism. If it senses any kind of intent to destroy zeroing in on it, just before the point of impact, the opal can teleport a short distance away, and leave an illusion of its shattered fragments behind. Luckily Lyra after using it for so long, she's connected to it, and can sense where it is to reclaim it.
Secret to herself, Lyra is part of a chosen few selected for a great purpose. What that purpose is and who chose her? That is a mystery.
Of all animals used for Sonic OCs, I don't know of any moths canon or OC. I figured there's a bee character in Charmy, why not another insect character with a moth. Tbh I think insects are used less then most animals in Sonic. I'd think it'd be funny to imagine Charmy actually develop a youthful crush on Lyra. She is very pretty.
