WEEK’s 7 & 8 | Online Tutorial
Studio Brief #7 (Pitch Participation)
Viewing + Voting + Feedback of Online Pitch Presentations:
I love how we had the opportunity to view our fellow classmates pitch presentations, rather than just submitting our own. It allowed us to take a glance at the design process and project design of our fellow classmates.
Voting:
Every individual presented two visual directions. At the end of each, to me it was evident to which one caught my interest the most. I believe voting allowed individuals to find similar characteristics that were successful and unsuccessful throughout all presentations.
In relation to feedback from my teacher and fellow classmates, the chosen visual direction was the Kombucha. Some feedback for improving on my kombucha product design include: to use typefaces that stand out and catch attention, and that I should use a bottle instead of a can, to show the contents inside of the kombucha can, rather than solely rely on packaging design of the can.
Self-Directed Brief #7 (Logo Research & Visual Development)
Aaron Draplin Video – Illustrator Basics:
Aaron Draplin’s video was engaging and interesting, informing me that it is easiest to sketch logos and designs prior to placing them on illustrator. It was cool to see the design go from a plan to the end result. He takes you through the basics of creating and designing a logo, while making it look so easy and simple.
Illustrator Basics Collection Videos:
This collection of videos includes an enormous amount of videos regarding Illustrator basics, allowing individuals to become familiar with the tools required when using Illustrator. This assisted my logo development significantly, due to having no previous experience with Illustrator. This allowed me to start from the very beginning with a walkthrough, also allowing me to learn anything specific I am unsure about, such as using type, symbols and grids.
