My next restoration project: Sargent model 1414 'HERCULES' Jack plane, manufactured from 1927 to 1949. Although at the time it was marketed as a low to mid-range 'homeowner' model, the quality is on par, if not above, many top line models of today. This lovely example is only suffering from a few decades of neglect, and should be a fine addition to my daily bench tools. I'll keep ya posted. 😎

Today will involve a great deal of scraping & planing. Handtools allow the woodworker to get a ‘feel’ for the piece.
Here's a follow-up to my earlier post about this broken wrench. The wire tang bent, at some point either before, during, or after the wood gave way. Notice the adjustable behind has a solid steel tang that is much more solid. #handtools #wrenches #woodandmetal #iloveoldtools
