#Repost @jedidiahjenkins ・・・ My favorite subject in Law School was Constitutional Law. The United States and its Constitution are an extraordinary experiment. A profound and beautiful step in human progress. An evolving organism of human cooperation. Of unfolding justice. But there is work to do. The Constitution was written in the shadows of heavy-handed injustice and abuse of power. The moral clarity that guided its writing came from Britain's oppression. But the brutal work of the Truth is that it is never done. Once you think you've arrived, the Truth turns a new page, and tells you that your new podium of freedom is built on blood. One mustn't get too comfortable. We learn in stages. . The ignorance of the past must be healed, misstep by misstep. I am fine with guns, to a certain degree. But just because something was in the constitution doesn't mean it is ordained by God. Deadly things are heavily regulated. No? Especially when technology has made them 100x more deadly than when they were codified as a right... right? The Constitution said that slaves were 3/5 of a person. Should we build society on that?
