Are those musicians that use the alternative paths towards their idioms as we have noticed in our many examples of such a behaviour quite similar in their sounds? Well, weren't you paying attention? I'm joking, I know you did, but given the fact that I try to find the commonalities between this loosely defined group of players, one should understand such an inquiry. I would add that you can formulate a certain woozines with the modern ones that look for the alternative path. Listen to Kwes to hear what I mean. He resembles so many contemporary styles by feeling adrift in his tone. Yes, the latter quality could be seen as a hallmark of what I'm trying to elucidate, they try to break down the firm ground of their soundscape to mirror the time we are in.
One of my favorite albums last year was ilp., the debut from Kwes. It's nice to hear my favorite track from this album has just been edited for radio. I wasn't quite sure how they'd do it, as the album version begins with about 90 seconds worth of blissed-out musique concrete. But they did. And here it is: "Purplehands."

This is such a fxcking cute song about his GRANDPARENTS. Holy holy, Kwes is sweetie of the year.
