rosalia thanked the servant child, inhaling the scent of the white daises with a wide smile. she was surprised to see that a small jar of fruits was also included. the letter scrawled on the note was familiar and she looked upon it fondly. her heart warmed to know that after all these years, the italian boy hadn’t forgotten her and her animal friends.

A single iris, delivered to Ferdinand by a servant child who had been paid well. No meaning, except for the one they had given. A note — no name, but a time and a place.

Ferdinand’s blood began to race even before he held the flower in his hand. He manage to hold his composure long enough to shoo the child away and close the door so that he could express the thrill he felt without restrain. Ferdinand bit his lip, bringing the iris close in order to smell it and feel the soft petals against his skin and began to picture the smell and feel of the sender himself.
