see ok Serious Answer sexuality isnt seen in westeros in the same way we see it, esp in the iron islands. it's got the greco-roman ideas on active/passive + if you have sex with men you arent gay, you have proclivities. and so long as youre the dominant/active partner (eg the top) its basically fine. youre being a violent red-blooded man. you see this in the victarion chapters with poor maester kerwin, which i wont describe but i think it shows how ironborn treat homosexuality. it's also like prison sexuality a little bit? lesbianism would be a perversion as it centres women and ironborn society is broadly sexist

plus it's linked to an insecurity in national identity. theon was raised by 'soft' greenlanders and is essentially castrated in his father's eyes (ironic considering). he respects asha because he raised her as a son+ironborn, not a daughter. if she presented feminine he'd have married her off cos he's sexist lol. the whole theon/asha dichotomy is all because rodrik and maron died and balon had to deal with what he had which is allow his daughter her butch realness despite the fact it's gender non-conforming.

again youre joking and im rambling but the complexities of theon's identity and especially how it relates to gender on a personal and sociological level is very inchresting to me :) plus i like analysis on how westeros treats gender and sexuality.

I just woke up and it’s 3:34am. Going to go through the inbox and start clearing out the 5 sentence prompts I’ve been ignoring instead of working on my wips since it’s either watch terrible foreign TV or write in my hotel room.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a status update (or at all) and it’s honestly a mixture of work + life stress and guilt at putting things off. For those of you still waiting and following my ass --- thank you, you don’t know how much it means to me that I can disappear for months at a time and still come back to such appreciative readers ;o; 

Anyways. I’m abroad for the next month or so because of work. I found out yesterday I’ll be doing a lot more traveling the next few weeks by rail, which means more time to read and write (if you’ve tagged me in something in the past, but I’ve missed it, I’m so sorry! Feel free to message/tag me again and I’ll look at it). Without further ado, in order of priority...

Wayward Children (ch 6.) - yes, haha, I know it’s been too long. Really struggling with writing the chocobros now that Nyx is “out of the picture”; june update latest

Cabin Fever (ch 2.) - ditto. Except I have a fairly clear idea of what I want ch 2 to be, so it’s just a matter of finishing up my draft and editing; june/july update

Unravel Me (part 3) - wrote this realllly quickly (span of 2 days) for #nyxulricweek and honestly, not super satisfied with it since I left out a lot of important parts I originally wanted to include; tbd

Electric Sheep (ch 1) - once upon a time I was extremely excited about this, but honestly, probably wont see the light of day until WC or CF wraps up because let’s be real, I struggle enough with one WIP as is; tbd

5 sentence challenge, other various prompts - these will be done at my leisure (as if this isn’t already the case) and mostly when I’m looking for writing inspiration or trying to get back into the grove of things (like now). These will be sporadic, I’m sorry!
