So the new Fable protag. Do we think they'll be a William Black descendant, or will Playground decide not to step on that particular family tree's toes given its significance to the original trilogy?
Personally, I'd prefer to play someone from a different line - maybe a descendant of Nostro and Magdalene, or a Hero/Archon we've never heard of before. Nostro would be my choice given his significance as the founder of the Heroes Guild and the one who led the efforts to end the Fallow Wars after the Old Kingdom fell. Of course the subject might not even come up. Black's bloodline was a big plot point in the first game and then just became the throughline connecting Chicken Chaser to Sparrow and the HOBW as well as a means of explaining the player's mastery of all three attributes when such a thing is a rarity. Maybe Playground will explain our new Hero's ability with their bloodline or maybe they'll just have them be an anomaly with no clear answer. Maybe their heritage will be relevant in a completely different way - we don't know why the antagonist petrified their village after all. Maybe there's a grudge going on there, maybe not.
But yeah. I have my doubts that we'd be playing another descendant of William Black, and I think it'd be cool to either be Nostro's descendant or someone else entirely new. Briar Rose could be a possible relation too, just based on Briar Hill and the Rose and Thorn from what we've seen in the childhood section, but there's no way to know if those names are more significant than just Easter eggs.
