i do think that the reason i'm most interested in bfdi/object shows as a case study of disability erasure is that it's a series with many, many visible disabilities by nature of its premise. and it IS a show that recognizes these disabilities. and it IS a show with fans who absolutely erase and ignore these disabilities. and i find that really, really infuriating, but it's also an opportunity to explore more broadly the discomfort people have with character disabilities and why they would rather erase them altogether in their fanwork and adaptations than earnestly meet the source material where it stands. it's a problem!
