I ain't no homo yall -💸
I've seen people portray Max in fic as having abysmal alcohol tolerance, and, I mean, it probably looks like that when he's standing next to a slivovitz-drinking slav who can likely put most people under the table.
However, counterpoint, Max is English. There's no way he hasn't had the chance to test the limits of his gut and build up some tolerance, at the very least during college. I headcanon that Max knows exactly HOW to drink and how much before he enters dangerous territory, and that the amount he can put away would be surprising. He knows greasy food will affect the amount, he knows how mixing different alcohols will affect him, that sugary drinks are more dangerous and he knows to drink slow if he can. All these rules are followed quietly and without much fanfare.
This results in giving off the impression that he's virtually immune to alcohol to some, while others who see him for the first time think he'll be stumbling after the second drink.
In reality, he can put away several glasses of any kind of wine plus one or two harder drinks on a good night, but will start to get woozy after a few cocktails, especially if they're sweet. If he has to knock back a slivovitz he'll survive up to three before throwing in the towel, not because he can't take more but because he knows two-3 more might actually put him in the hospital if he's not careful. Slivovitz takes practice to get used to and there's a reason why it's a sipping drink. Drinking it slow with food in between, he can likely drain half a (good) bottle in a night, though you shouldn't ask him how he's doing the next morning.
headcanons for CPDS watching films
here’s my headcanons of CPDS members while watching films: Chris: Points out mistakes/inconsistencies that he noticed, prefers longer films so he can be better invested with the characters, turns away and tries to hide when he cries. Robert: Talks during films, “Where do i recognise that actor from?”, claims and insists that he doesn’t cry but will openly sob if anything bad happens to his fave character. Sandra: Actively comments on costumes and film aesthetics, favourite genre is period dramas, gets invested but rarely cries (like proper, she can get teary at times but that doesn’t count) Dennis: Talks a lot (mostly asking what’s happening or which character is which), searches up trivia and gets distracted, prefers cartoons, doesn’t cry because he never understands what’s happening Vanessa: Favourite genre is horror, can’t really watch films without snacks, searches up the cast to find out what other films the actors were in, only cries when the death includes an animal Max: Goes through super long movie-marathons, sometimes forgets what’s happening in the film because he’s too busy focusing on the others’ reactions, easy cryer, open to any genres Annie: Likes high-action films otherwise she gets bored, another snack-reliant watcher, points out when the soundtrack is banging, doesn't cry Trevor: Prefers documentaries to films, has periods of times where he just rewatches the same thing several times and then doesn’t touch it for months, searches up trivia about the films he’s watching Jonathan: Loves musical adaptations and will mumble along to the lyrics, doesn’t cry but does get incredibly invested to the plot and characters, claps at the end of films in the cinema
same, max
Lando: Is there a way to cut ties with toxic people?
Alex: Go your separate ways
George: Focus on yourself
Max: With a knife
