as a little apology gift from me:

• law is 1000000000% a virgin in all things romantic, absolutely no way he’s experienced with this kind of thing. that’s why it comes as such a huge shock when he realises he’s head over heels for you. he’s a doctor. he’s well familiar with body reactions.

and there seems to be no medical reason for his heart palpating so fast in your presence other than one ailment. he’s caught the sickness of love- only for you.

• runs his finger down your body and names the bones his finger lands on when he pauses (🤤)

• another woman approaches him? he shoots her the scariest death stare you’ve ever seen him give. his eyes are dark- intense. like someone pulled a shadow over his eyes, despite the lighting in the room staying exactly the same. he’s honed in on her, but not in the way you’d expect. it’s belittling. devoid of any warmth. no- he could never look at another the way he does for you. his eyes are as cold as ice, pupils shrinking.

she looks as pale as a sheet of paper.

“back off.” he almost spits, and she stumbles as she scurried back.

then he looks back to you. his pupils dilate, and his gaze instantly melts. you stare back, a little gobsmacked.

“…law, what was that?” you mutter, eyebrows pinched quizzically. sure, of course you didn’t want women approaching him. but she looked like she could near enough faint.

he just hums lightly in response.

“i’ve already forgotten.”

joining in on the appreciation! genuinely thank you so so much for continuing to make such awesome themes. cannot express how much interloper is like exactly the vibe and layout i've been looking for since i started over on tumblr a couple years back, and i am still so so grateful that you decided to turn heartworm into a full theme. only reason i haven't finished customizing it is because i realized i do not have enough images for it yet whoops. gotta make the right gifs or draw something

genuinely will never be able to understand how people don't want to make their space uniquely their own and have fun customizing it. i remember the days when practically everyone had a theme, and i could never have enough blogs for all the cool themes i wanted to use. i learned html from editing character pages, and i wouldn't be making toyhouse codes for my characters now if it weren't for the theme community here. really want to try my hand at theme making someday, too.

really hope that more people start enjoying blog themes again. i feel like most people don't even know that's an option now and it sucks.

I think web/blog design appreciation has just gone down as a whole in the past few years, especially with tumblr prioritizing mobile blogging (I have a whole rant about it here, under "tumblr changes / mobile & NPF era"). and since most users are on mobile, unless you're 1. not logged in, 2. on a browser (i.e. not the tumblr mobile app), 3. using a theme that supports portrait mode, using & viewing a custom theme can be a hurdle 😔

as someone who also learned coding from the docs and tutorials from the community here, it saddens me that most of us have retired, and there've been very few new theme makers. of course, with how things have been, we're all busy and tired (and pushing 30) so working with all the tumblr changes is often too exhausting.

unfortunately for those who think that custom themes are pointless, I'll still be around, so there's that 👍

this might be a silly question but I love your style and lineart and I’ve been dipping my toes into digital art for awhile but I can’t for the life of me understand how to achieve that effect in my own lineart😭 how do you have it transitioning to a lighter color? by using blending modes in your lineart layer or by tracing the lineart again in a lighter color? and how do you know when it should be lighter? again sorry if this is kind of dumb or something you wouldn’t like to share but I really want to practice to find my own way of doing it and would love to have some advice🙏🏽

as for lineart effect, the only thing i do is i paint over the lineart with a clip layer :0 so the color gets "clipped" into the lines, basically

i select the colors so they match the flat colors. i also make it so there are slighttt variations/transitions. as to how do i know when it should be this or that, light or darker, more or less saturated.. atp it just comes naturally to me, ive been doing it for years haha.

only thing i make sure is that the flat colors are never darker than the lineart. even after i paint the lineart, i still adjust it as i go (especially bc if u shade, your colors will get darker! so i always try to take that into account)

ive heard some ppl do a quicker version of this, which is do your colors, duplicate layer, put on top of lineart, blur with gassian blur until u cant see the lineart, then make that layer a clip mask and apply "lighten" effect on it. or something like that, i cant remember well. but i prefer to do it manually

Imagine keeping Whumpee in a cursed/magic display case 24/7. They're fed, they don't need to use the restroom, but there's not enough room to lay down, and they're completely deprived of human contact, and even if Whumper completely abandoned them, they can't die while they're in there, but is it really living, when they're trapped behind glass?

I thought about this a lot and I've come to the conclusion that this would be like being bound to an object entirely. Like living in a mirror, or being inside an amulet kept close around someone's neck. Caged, only ever being able to watch, but never even being allowed not to, never being able to sleep, or experience anything themself. All they have is what they see.

It would be indescribable torture to exist like that no matter what. If they are somewhere busy, watching over a street or something, all they can think about is how badly they want to be one of those people, free and happy. Meet with family, have dreams, goals, things to do, food to eat, hobbies to try.

But if they are abandoned, forever locked away somewhere where nobody goes, nothing happens, for years... Imagine setting free a whumpee like that. One that not only hasn't had an ounce of control over their life, but also not even a body to really speak of. How could a whumpee like that live? How would they act around others? How would they know that they need to eat and sleep eventually?

And what if its the worst of both worlds. What if they are fortunate enough to be stuck in a busy space — it's just unlucky that that place is a front row seat to the most demented torture of others, perhaps even people they personally know. They have something to watch, but they wish they didn't, they wish they didn't have to see all the suffering, they wish they could just close their eyes or stop existing altogether.

But also, being put on display is just a whole other flavour of awful. Imagine a fallen king... The kin of a rare species... The snitch... An example... So many reasons they could put somebody on display for, and have others stare at them all day.
