I love your writing style so much. The way you write luffy is perfect I'm obsessed. I binged all your fics in one sitting 😭. Can I request a jealously fic similar to the one in your friend with benefits headcannons?
HIHI!!! I'm glad that you like my fics, and super thank you for reading them! :D One thing I was worried about when I started posting was that I would mischaracterize or get Luffy's character wrong, so it makes me very happy to see so many people think that I write him well! I'm also still a bit newer to writing, so it keeps me motivated to know that it is legible and cohesive enough to be good — I was always a little self-conscious over that!
With that being said, I did not know if you were looking for smut or not. So, just because 9 out of my 10 posts (at the time of writing this) are smut, I decided to make this one sfw. If you want otherwise, I am happy to write up another one!
I also changed it to not be friends with benefits if that is alright. Despite writing it for those headcanons, it is not my favorite trope in the world.
cw: established relationship, fem!reader, reader implied to be on the weaker (but not helpless) side, post-timeskip, swearing, jealousy, jealous Luffy, possessive Luffy, protective Luffy, mentions of drinking/alcohol, briefly touches on harassment, slight hurt/comfort, not proofread

The bar that the Straw Hats had stopped in on some nondescript island was loud, filled with people eating and drinking — filled with drunkards starting arguments too big for themselves. The crew had taken up one of the larger tables in the corner where their rowdy group was the least likely to cause any sort of fight for at least one evening… hopefully.
"You're lucky we found that treasure on the last stop, captain," Nami muttered, the honorific coming out as more of a snarl — staring at the growing mound of plates in front of Luffy in fear for the crew's finances. The captain only grinned with his mouth full, shoveling another chunk of meat into his mouth before he even swallowed the last portion.
You were sat beside the captain as always, not really having much of a choice when the first thing he always does when promised with food is grab your wrist and relentlessly tug and whine until you give in or are too embarrassed by the onlookers. Unfortunately, you love him very much so it is very difficult to say no to.
"Shitty captain," Sanji grumbles with reluctant affection from his spot beside Nami, stamping out his cigarette just to light a new one, "Appreciate a lady's hard work for once! Nami-swan went through unimaginable hell stealing-"
"Borrowing indefinitely."
"Yes, of course, Nami-swan!~" Sanji clears his throat, correcting himself, "Borrowing that treasure indefinitely."
Zoro groaned from the rim of his mug, lowering it from his lips as his eye showed annoyance and mild disgust, "Eat your food off the ground if you are going to heel like a dog for her, waiter," He scoffed at Sanji, ignoring the scathing glare he got from the cook as he drinks his sake unbothered.
Luffy seemed the least bit interested in the scolding, taking a sip from his own mug. His face scrunched up from the taste — almost caving in from the pure look of disgust on it. You've seen him do that at least twelve times within the last hour, each time after he took a sip of his sake.
"You don't have to drink it if you don't like it, you know," You hummed from beside him in amusement. His arm, which was resting on the back of the chair behind you, gently touched your arm to show he heard what you said, "I'm sure Zoro will finish it if you don't want it."
Zoro only raised his mug slightly in acknowledgement at that, never one to turn down some more booze.
"Hrrrmmm…" Luffy grumbled, eyeing the liquid inside with disgust, "It's a special day, though! We gotta drink at banquets!"
You didn't have the willpower to tell him that it wasn't required to drink. He is a stubborn, stubborn man and would not be willing to change his view on how banquets go.
Chopper giggled from his spot on Robin's lap, holding a glass of milk in his hooves. "Maybe he would like it more if it tasted like meat!"
Luffy's head whipped towards Sanji, his eyes wide and eager for the cook's input on this, "SANJI! Make meat booze!"
"Never insult me like that again."
"You know," Usopp chimed in from his spot beside Franky, holding a suspicious looking device in his hands and giving zero input on what it was. It likely could blow up, judging by the way Franky was itching to grab it, "Meat booze is an untapped market. Think about how much beli we can make from it. Probably, like, billions!"
Nami's eyes gleamed at that, also turning towards Sanji in interest. Sanji's eyes closed, his head tilting up and away from Nami's face out of respect for himself as a chef. His "lady radar" made it impossible to not sense her expression, though.
"I'm sorry, Nami-swan. But as a chef — NO! As a man…" He paused for a moment of dramatic effect, "I cannot let such a thing exist. It is an insult to any culinary prowess."
Nami's gaze only sharpened, eager to make him cave for a potential payday.
Sanji sighed, "And also Luffy is the only freak who would ever drink it."
"I need another drink," Nami sighed after a few moments, turning towards you. You blinked as she handed you a few coins, "Get me one?"
"Sanji will flirt with any woman on the way and take too long, Zoro would drink it, Luffy would somehow come back with more meat than the amount I gave was worth… and also you were closest. Thanks!"
Guess that was that. No saying no, you supposed. With a dramatic sigh, you stood up and ignored the triumphant grin on Nami's face. Luffy blinked up at you from where he was stuffing his face with food again. Judging by Usopp's outraged protests, you assumed he stole it from him. He tilted his head curiously.
You put your finger on his lips to prevent him from speaking with his mouth full, "I'll be right back. I'm just getting Nami another drink," You tell him before he can start pouting, your thumb pointing at the bar behind you. His gaze followed where your finger aimed, nodding solemnly as if he were agreeing to send you to war.
You pat his head affectionately before you walked off, ignoring the fact that you can feel his eyes on you the entire way to the counter.
You leaned a bit on the wooden surface, idly twirling one of the coins Nami gave you between your fingers until the bartender approached you. You looked up then, smiling softly. "Hi. Just one mug of sake," You requested, setting the coins down on the surface.
"GET ME SOME MORE MEAT- OWWWW! NAMI!" Luffy wailed from behind you, clutching his unwounded head from the punch he received from Nami.
Your eyes briefly close as you exhale a small laugh. The bartender smiles kindly as he takes the coins, moving away to fill a mug with your request.
You wait for the drink to be finished, standing up straight as you drum your fingers idly on the wooden surface, looking around the room. You blink as you looked at the small stage across the bar, seeing Brook performing up there. You hadn't even noticed he wandered away from the crew's table with how much that goes on even from an eleven person group in such a short period of time. Not that you were complaining, the skeleton was talented and it added to the atmosphere.
You were distracted, so you didn't notice the man that slid into the spot beside you until he was too close for comfort — until you could smell the alcohol emanating from his person like a signal flare.
You chuckled awkwardly and take a few steps to the side to create more distance, not knowing if it was just a drunk guy with poor coordination or if it was intentional. You were hoping it was the former.
But he slid closer again, and the hairs on the back of your neck stood up in major discomfort and alarm. You looked at where the bartender was because hopefully them returning with the drink and hasten your retreat, and he seemed caught up in trying to prevent a separate brawl from breaking out.
That was okay. Yeah, it's fine, probably. You can defend yourself, you can fight. While you aren't as strong as Luffy or Sanji or Zoro, you can still defend yourself from one drunk man making poor decisions if it came down to it.
"Hey, pretty lady," The drunk man slurred, leaning in so close that you had to lean back to avoid him touching you and to avoid the heavy alcohol breath he was emanating with each word. Everything from his looks to his scent was disgusting.
"Not interested," You grit out, keeping your eyes straight ahead with another hopeful thought that maybe, just maybe, it was a man trying to shoot his shot and he would leave after a firm rejection. Wishful thinking in a world of pirates and corrupt governments, really.
The man scoffed, obviously not taking any form of no for an answer. You hated men like that. "C'mon. Don' be a bitch. Lemme get ya a drink," He grunts, now getting way too close for comfort. You couldn't back away anymore without hitting another person.
You turned to him, completely prepared to just sock him in the face and get it over and done with — but he seemed to have similar plans. His arm wrapped around your waist forcefully, completely stunning you for a moment. You forgot what you were about to do.
Just as you began to wince from the pain of his grimy nails digging into your side, the pressure was released. You blinked, not really knowing what happened because everything went so quickly.
One moment you were stunned, your mind retreating in a state of fear because you really couldn't grasp the fact that this was happening in a public setting, in front of your crew — your boyfriend, no less.
The next moment, the man was off of you with his head being slammed into the bar counter, the wood snapping beneath the pressure and caving in until the man hit the ground and then some — cracks spiderwebbing on the floor from the impact point, steam angrily filling the space.
You blink, regaining your bearings as your world reorganizes around you — finally seeing what happened.
Luffy was there, crouched over the man with his hand to the back of his head. His skin was pinkish and gleaming, steam pouring from him aggressively as he breathes hard — but you know it wasn't from exertion. He trained gear two for way too long to be exhausted from that little of usage.
Luffy was pissed. Seething, even.
The bar was silent now, save for the settling of wood and Luffy's harsh, angry breathing.
"Hell do ya think y're doing, bastard?!" Luffy shouts furiously, his tone deeper from the anger searing though him — his hand briefly pushing the man's face down harder until he heard him groan.
The sound of shuffling sounded from somewhere else in the bar, likely the man's friends coming to aid him and get Luffy off. You could hear Sanji's foot ignite, the beginning of Zoro's swords leaving their sheathes, but it wasn't faster than Luffy.
A deep, aggressive pressure drowned the room. Luffy looked over at the, now stopped, group from under the brim of his hat. His eyes narrow, the pressure increasing as black and red lightning whips around wildly — as if mimicking the very nature of his anger. It destroyed chairs, tables, cracked walls, and shattered windows and bottles.
Even so, it never hit anyone who didn't deserve it, the pressure knocking the group unconscious. Even in anger Luffy had some control, a testament to the training he went through over those two years.
Even if it wasn't aimed at you, you could still feel the weight of his Conqueror's Haki settling and wrapping around your very soul.
Luffy's attention turned back to the man he had pinned down, his teeth bared in anger, "Say something!"
Maybe it was the alcohol giving the man confidence under the weight of a very angry and currently aggressive yonko, because his words were probably the worst choice he could make.
"She was alone and pretty. The bitch had it coming-"
Luffy growls, gripping the man by the back of the head and throwing him bodily at a wall. He crashed through it and kept going, crashing through the wall of a bakery across the street and coming to a stop slumped against the checkout counter.
Luffy breathes heavily in pure rage, his chest heaving — each breath coming out in an almost rattle from restraint. His fists clench.
"SHE'S MINE, YOU BASTARD!" He shouts as loud as he could, taking one aggressive step forwards — cracking the ground beneath his foot, "Y'got that?!"
Jinbe, ever the saint, stepped up beside Luffy and put his hand on his chest to stop him. "That is enough, Luffy. You have done enough," He rumbles out, firm and unwavering even as Luffy's harsh gaze settles on him — seeming to be offended that Jinbe would ever tell him to stop beating that man's ass, "It would do you well to check on her."
That got through to Luffy as his gaze snapped over to you. The fight left him as his skin lost the pink, the almost suffocating steam dissipating. He carefully walked over to you, a stark difference from the rage he just showed.
He stopped in front of you, his hands shakily reaching up. That, too, wasn't from exertion. Not from the look in his eyes. He seemed a bit afraid, like he was scared that his actions might have frightened you. Like he was scared that his strength could hurt you.
You did not like that. You did not want him to be scared to touch you, but you didn't push him. He needed to settle, and forcing him out of his comfort will not help.
His hands, calloused but so very gentle, settled on your face. He cupped your jawline, his thumbs softly stroking your cheeks, "Y'okay?" He asks, his tone hoarse but full of care and worry, "He didn't hurt ya? I didn't hurt ya?"
You leaned into his touch, his posture easing a fraction at the gesture. His eyes were frantic as they looked over you, no doubt using observation haki to make sure you weren't hiding anything. You can't lie to him.
"My waist hurts a little," You admit, your side a little sore from where the man gripped you. Luffy's eyes snapped down to where you said the pain was and he makes a broken little noise as he sets his hat on your head as a silent apology.
"Chopper!" Luffy calls out, his voice worried. You couldn't tell him it wasn't necessary in time.
Chopper, who was stunned, shakes his head and scampers over. "R-Right!" He squeaks out, urging you to sit as he crawls up onto a stool beside you. He gently lifted the hem of your shirt with his hooves to see where the injury was, causing Luffy's eyes to narrow. He shifts, moving more in front of you to block your body from the others just because a little skin was showing.
He glared over his shoulder, his cheeks puffing. "No lookin'!" He grumbled petulantly, looking specifically at Sanji, Brook, and Franky. The tension broke after that.
You looked past Luffy as Chopper was treating you, seeing Zoro muttering various curses under his breath as he hands Nami some beli. You blinked.
Luffy seemed to have the same idea as you, "What did y'bet on?" He asked suspiciously as he eyed the money.
Nami giggles, "I made a bet with Zoro on if you would get jealous by the end of our little banquet," Nami sang, counting the bills in her hand.
"Ehhhh??" Luffy cries indignantly, "I was not jealous! I was protectin' m'girl!"
"That part maybeso, but don't act like you were innocent beforehand!" Nami hummed, pointing the stack of beli at him, "You glared at anyone as soon as she walked away from you. Besides, even a noble action can be founded on something as simple as jealousy."
Nami laughs teasingly, pocketing the money, "She's mine!" She mocked, her grin turning sly, "That wasn't from jealousy?"
Luffy stammered, his face heating up. Luckily, or unluckily because of the news, Chopper chimed up.
"There is a little bruising, nothing too bad," He said, letting her shirt drop after applying some ointment and bandages. You had asked earlier if the bandages were necessary because it made you feel more injured than you were, but he just answered that it was just to keep the cream from rubbing off on your shirt. You didn't question it after that.
Luffy, at the news, made another wounded noise before his anger reignited.
"I'll kill 'em!" Both he and Sanji announced with fire in their eyes. Luffy's head snapped to Sanji.
"Back off! I gotta do it!" Luffy hisses childishly, stomping his foot.
"No way! You hit the bastard once already! It's my turn!"
"And she is a lady! I have to destroy any man who harms a lady!"
They butt heads, sparks of rivalry forming. Nami stepped over and pushed them away from each other just to walk between them. She grabbed her mug of sake from the non-broken part of the counter, as well as the beli that you had given the bartender before.
"H-Hey!" The bartender stammered, but his legs were still shaking too much to get up.
Nami giggled again, her tongue sticking out, "You'll let me go 'cause I'm cute, right?"
Usopp narrowed his eyes beside her, "I'm cuter."
"Marines are on their way," Robin speaks up, her hands lowering from where she was summoning eyes around the town, "We should go."
That got the straw hats moving. Not because they couldn't handle it, but because it was more of a hassle than it was worth. They ran out, leaving the bar destroyed with nothing more than an apology.
You did not even get ten steps before Luffy swept you up, one hand behind your back and the other under your legs as he carries you. "I can still run, Luffy!" You yelped in shock, clutching him with one hand and the other holding his hat steady on your head.
"Shishishi!" He laughs, causing you to smile now that the anger was out of him, "Nuh-uh! You're hurt, so I gotta carry ya! Don't worry! Captain'll keep ya safe!"
You laughed softly, deciding not to argue if it made him feel better. You just leaned into him. Behind you, you could hear Sanji's angry shouts from where he was being carried over Chopper's — who was in heavy point — shoulder as you all sprinted back to the Sunny.
