the beauty of gone gone cannot be overstated. the brilliant suddenness and mundanity of mary's loss. the delicate balance between joviality and sorrow. the different aspects of grief represented by the different characters. the way thomas makes things all about himself instinctively but eventually acknowledges that his draw towards words in the face of loss wasn't what would've suited mary best, and instead asks alison to gather physical objects as an ode to mary's practicality. the way alison deliberately tells the captain she understands his instinct towards keeping himself too busy to feel his emotions and how that fits into the grander arc of their familial relationship. robin's understanding of grief being a completely different beast entirely because of his millennia of perspective, but also how the human experience remains the same. people live and they die and they are remembered and they are remembered and they are remembered. that's where we go. back to the stars.
