tbh it’s not enough, it’s NEVER enough, to point out an issue like racism. you cannot just be like, “look, racism exists!” and think that’s good enough. i understand the idea of keeping the anti-Blackness sam experiences somewhat subtle (depending on who you’re talking to) bc that’s often how it is in everyday life to those who don’t experience it. but...this is, or was, also a chance to explicitly address it and the deal with it. and if the mcu isn’t going to do that, they have no business bringing it up honestly. showing us a bunch of traumatic scenes at the expense of Black characters/folks, and not doing something to start remedying that right away or maybe at all, is just...trauma porn, i think...

and let’s be real, no, i’m not shocked that the mcu doesn’t know how to address real issues like racism. but i am disappointed about how they’re half-assing it in this show that’s allegedly sam-centric, bc it might be worse and it...kinda reeks of being handled by white folks.

thinking about this bc of a post @anthonyymackie made a couple eps ago and @starkrhodes‘s comments in our discord chat. i don’t have it in me to really...get into this properly rn but...thinking about how this might all just be more ultimately hurtful than...helpful for real BIPOC, ya know?
