you've found me at a very sleepy time in my life
iiiii HATE MY BRAIN!!!
WE ARE SO BACK
Some Naegamigiri parenting headcanons because I have baby fever and can't think of much else.
Makoto:
He's the best at helping the kid feel better, wheter they get scared because of a nightmare or they're crying after scraping their knees.
Really he's just good at dealing with their emotions in general, and can help them calm down and cheer up anytime.
He sucks at dealing with conflict, though. If the kid is fighting with someone else, he'll have a hard time actually solving the issue.
Usually the one in charge of changing diapers, since Kyoko and Byukuya love leaving him the dirty work.
Loves reading bedtime stories, and sometimes makes his own ones up.
Gets worried easily. If he's watching over the kid, he's not taking his eyes off of them for more than two seconds. If the kid still manages to get out of sight, he'd get super paranoid instantly and start looking around as fast as possible.
Probably cried on the kid's first day at school.
Kyoko:
The best at disciplining the kid. She calmly explain what they did wrong, why what they did was wrong, and choose an appropriate punishment according to that.
Also very good at dealing with tantrums.
Tells the kid stories about mysteries she and her family solver over the years (and makes them more child friendly when they're too gruesome).
On that note, she probably taught the child to solve mysteries and stuff. Maybe even bought her detective novels to see if she could guess the endings.
Often times the one who stays up at night if the kid is restless as night, since she's used to staying up at night.
She's very bad at being affectionate, but she does her best.
Probably has read like twenty books about childcare to make sure she's prepared for everything.
Byakuya:
The best at teaching the kid new things, and helping them study. If they have any trouble with their homework, he's the one they'll most likely go to.
They also go to him whenever they want someone to defend them, because they know how intimidating he can be and that he won't pack any punches if he's displeased with something.
He's the worst at affection, though. Even just giving a hug is kind of an alien concept to him, so sometimes he's too distant from the little one.
The illogical thoughts of a child are also difficult territory for him. If the kid has a tantrum about something inane or ridiculous, he'll just ask Makoto for help because he's not sure how to solve the problem when using logic doesn't work.
Makes sure to teach the kid manners, like saying "please" and "thank you" (even if he more often than not doesn't bother with having manners).
Buys them expensive toys and games for their birthday every year.
Sings lullabies to help the child go to sleep (but gets embarrassed whenever someone else hears him).
