I used to not like Cinderheart because the reincarnation side plot is really ableist and lowkey creepy with Cinderpelt “finally getting the life she wanted” by becoming mate with Firestar’s grandson and erasing her disability but if I just completely scrap that and change the reincarnation lore I do think it made Cinderheart an interesting character...

A cat who is unsatisfied with the state of their death might not be able to make the travel to Starclan. Their emotions still bound to the living world, their discontent or other feelings weight them down from the stars. Their soul is attaches to a kit and may reside there until those emotions have been sorted out or the cat can leave at peace.

Cinderpelt can't bear to leave Leafpool alone- To leave her so soon. Not after they ended on such bad terms. The clan is weakened and with the burdens of her duties, a broken heart, and soon kits, she has a difficult path ahead of her. Cinderpelt has to be there. She has to stay and be with her somehow. So Cinderpelt becomes Cinderkit and then Cinderheart.

Cinderheart was very close to and involved with the three, which is really interesting when she herself is a reincarnation but seemingly under a completely different situation than them.

Knowing who she used to be, she struggled with her identity. Should she be a medicine cat or warrior? Should she be someone else or herself? What does she want? Is she allowed to want a path for herself...?

Lots of interesting stuff to explore there if she hadn't been in the poor target of Lionblaze's lame romance drama
