A bunch of pic of Célestin Nanteuil! Top 2: obviously takes on the same painting (and that second one cracks me up) (also given that they are both OBVIOUSLY paintings I don’t know why I can’t find them in color?? were they both photographed ONCE in the days of B&W film and then they immediately burst into flames?? WHAT.)

Bottom left: Sketch? photo? Sketch OF a photo? Bad reproduction of an early photo? Anyway, apparently Murger (left) and Nanteuil (right)--from the early 1840s or late 1830s.

Bottom right: Definitely a photo :P and also definitely Nanteuil. I like the obvious Facial Hair Choices across both the last two images, and the recognizable Thing goin’ on with his left eyebrow in all the images.
