Astro 09 redesign time!

I told you I was making him and here he is!

Not sure how much stuff on these redesign sheets I'll actually use, I'm mostly just messing around :)

I didn't end up changing a huge amount with him, they did a pretty good job tbh lol. I mostly just gave him some visible articulation points and made his clothes less lame, It always annoyed me how they covered up his massive iconic red boots with boring black trousers. I wanted to make sure he was still firmly 2009 astro, not just how I draw him usually or a direct copy of 03 or anything. I kept his eyelashes minimal compared to usual and gave him pretty thick eyebrows bc I think they're quite important features of 09 Astro, and if I got rid of them, he'd just look like any other adaptation. I also added a lot more details on clothes and stuff than the film had. This is intended to be a 'what if they did this' for the movie so everything I draw for it is designed like it would be put on a 3D model, so some of it's pretty dang cluttered but would probably be fine if it was in the films style rather than drawn.

Also, there's the obvious. He has the Red Core now I thought it was way more interesting for him to act the way he does because he's actually a good person and not just because he's built with good boy batteries. Plus, I think red works way better as a colour for him, both design-wise (Ik I always associate him with red over any other colours) and thematically. I thought it would be really cool for his energy to be red because it's the colour of blood and makes his core read almost like an organic heart. Also, I literally made it heart-shaped, but shh.

I thought I posted this here but apparently I didn't? Here's a clip of that lost Astro Boy pilot. It's the only clip we have. I already contacted the animator (Fung Wan Fung) asking if he had any more footage, but he only kept the part he had animated.

Tobio 09 redesign

Hello everyone, I've been cooking something up >:D I (and my brother a bit too) have been working on an Astro boy 2009 rewrite thingy. I'm gonna be redesigning most, if not all of the characters so here's my Tobio/Toby design.

Idk how often I'll share updates on here, but don't expect them to be frequent lol.
