fantastical lands and places
This is me.
And not me. ✦
#3 Favorite place
I don’t really have a favorite place. When I was little it was much easier to say what was your favorite animal, place, colour. Now, I feel more spread out, enjoying a lot of different things, people and places. Instead of picking a real place, I’ve picked something from my imagination, because dreamland is one of my favorite places, even if it varies in how it looks and if it’s good or bad, dark or light.
The endpapers to The Magical Land of Noom, written and illustrated by Johnny Gruelle, 1922.
These ends are merely a beginning: vintage endpaper designs.
Valentine Alley, 1973 by Gail Anderson Via Flickr: I made this card for a mail art blog called "Wish I Were Here" where people are encouraged to send in postcards from imaginary places. I wish that I could get in a time machine and go to this place for real. Not only does Valentine Alley look like fun, but the early 1970s were an interesting period. I couldn't really appreciate them because I was in middle school at the time and had other things on my mind.

"Homesickness is just a state of mind for me. I’m always missing someone or someplace or something, I’m always trying to get back to some imaginary somewhere. My life has been one long longing."
