if you haven't already...

imagine people being gentle and speaking gently to you.

Have them be gentle but still effective & simple in communication

Did this for my usually blunt (but well meaning) immigrant mother

For the past 3 days I imagined her speaking to me, the way that Ms.Honey from Matilda speaks. I affirmed "she's always been like this, It's just her nature"

and now her deliverance and tone has been so calm and sweet!!

If I can imagine them them makings fun of me and talking down on me ( completely in my head btw) and believe that is the truth ...

then I can imagine them admiring me and agreeing with me (completely in my head) and believe that is the truth of what is happening in reality

if I can imagine a full blown conversation where everything goes wrong and I'm miss understood... then I can also imagine a full blown conversation where everything goes right and they properly understand me

If I can imagine myself failing no matter what I do... can imagine myself succeeding no matter what I do.

if I can imagine myself speaking to them all the time… I can imagine myself never speaking to them
