How to Set up POP or IMAP email on an Android SmartPhone and Tablets
Android Smartphone has inbuilt support for email client, you can configure your office or any personal email and stay in touch with your friends, office and business from anywhere. Android Smartphone and tablet have the Exchange Active sync; POP and IMAP email connect client support. How to setup Exchange, http://www.saveintrash.com/setup-exchange-active-sync-email-android-phone-tablet/and the tablets are explained in the previous post. Further, in the article I will explicate how to configure and setup IMAP and POP email client on an Android Phone or Tablets.
Note: – Depending on the Phone and Android settings may vary little bit.
On the phone home screen, Go TO Applications > Settings > Under Accounts heading >Add Account > On the next screen tap on the Email
On the Account setup screen type your Valid email ID and password. Tap on Next or you can select Manual setup.
On the next screen asking for the type of account POP3, IMAP or Exchange (Active Sync). Select either IMAP or POP3. IMAP provides more features so we propose to select IMAP email.
On the Incoming settings screen, provide the requested information.
Username: - Your entire email address
Password: – Password for logging with email
IMAP server / POP3 server: - Email server name (FQDN)
Port: – Default 143 for IMAP and 110 for POP3.
Security: – default is none, check with your email administrator, if any, applied in the drop down menu.
Tap on the Next, Email settings will hold and corroborate with the email server.
On the Outgoing server settings screen,
SMTP Server: – type your SMTP server name (FQDN)
Port: – 25 (Default SMTP port)
Require sign-in option should be checked, and type the Username and Password in the text boxes.
In the Account name, enter your account name. And in the Your name box, Type your preferred display name which will be displayed when you send email to others. And then Tap on Finish Setup.
NOTE: - initializing and finishing POP3 and IMAP email setup may take 10 to 15 minutes.
