Here's a short for this morning's launch of IMAP, SWFO-L1, and Carruthers! These three fascinating missions will study the impact of space weather, a critical factor as we continue to integrate devices which are vulnerable to space weather in our everyday lives. By studying space weather from space, we can better prepare ourselves for the future.

I did see the launch, but I was driving so I couldn't film it myself. Beautiful day for a launch, though!

because i finished my bachelor's degree, i need to move all of the emails out of the university mailbox.

but that's not that simple! because gmail only supports POP3 importing, and yandex can only export IMAP.

so i have to write this this script to manually copy each email over a doubled up IMAP connection.

NASA's IMAP probe will launch in 2025 to capture interstellar dust

The cosmic flecks may harbor clues about the formation of our solar system and its planets.

In May next year, NASA plans to launch a spacecraft to capture minuscule dust particles streaming into our solar system from interstellar space, in hopes of studying the very building blocks of our cosmic backyard. The primary goal of the mission, called the Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP), is to study the huge, sun-created bubble known as the heliosphere that surrounds our solar system. The heliosphere shields Earth and other planets from cosmic radiation entering our solar system from the outside.

Gmail joke security

I still use “”“legacy, insecure, outdated””“ IMAP to access my gmail.

Me: slightly changes region which could be as much as a 20 min drive

Google: YOU (prob) BEEN HACKED! CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT NOAW!!!111

Notifications from Google on my 2 emails, my google account, my phone number, which on my 2 to 3 devices can sum up to around 10+ notifications:

Bonjour

Me: STFU Google

And the most infuriating part?

My mail client retries to reconnect obviously because the first login attempt was blocked because “suspicious”.

The second login attempt always succeeds.

Well, at least here it comes in handy that I pride myself on (usually) replying to my emails in a relatively timely fashion. However, there certainly was a tiny handful I didn't get around working off before the holidays.

I think I should have caught/reconstructed most open cases but just in case: if you have recently emailed me (mostly about tattoo appointments) and have not gotten a reply yet, please please please send your mail again because it might have fallen victim to my technological incompetence.
