what is the best fic you've read? and which is the most heartbreaking one? (i don't know if i'm ready for this, am i ready for this??)
The best fic?! Oh lovey that’s a hard question... I’ll list a couple because I can never decide on just one (& I’m probably forgetting loads too)
A most recent favourite of mine is Illogical, even by Magikspell. Grey-asexual Sherlock and beautiful storytelling. I also adored Inside written by the same author. Incredibly nsfw but gorgeous and so in character it aches.
The Progress of Sherlock Holmes by Ivyblossom. I particularly recommend downloading the podfic version by cellardoor - I always rec this, it is beautiful, you will cry and ache but it is all worth it for this truly incredible story and the beautiful way it’s told.
If you enjoy ACD canon fics I love, love One Week by JaneTurenne. Pretty much anything written by Mistyzeo, OH OH and my all time favourite ACD fic Four Minor Interludes for the Solo Violin & Hallowed Be Thy Name by Katie Forsythe (the best Holmes writer in existence <3) also recommend the podfic version here - it is delightful.
As for most heartbreaking, I’m not very good with dealing with heartbreaking/angsty fics (especially if they have no happy ending) but I’d have to list the fandom classic Alone On the Water. I’ve also just finished reading Breakable by MissDavis, where John is paralysed from the waist down after an accident. It’s established relationship Johnlock, very heartbreaking in places but also a wonderful read in general, I highly recommend it.
