i tried THIS tarot spread for Imbolc after my walk this morning and these are the cards i got.
the first card is the Emperor - which is in response to “How can you ground yourself so you are ready to grow strong this spring?“; according to Biddy Tarot, the emperor can signify that “you have a clear vision of what you want to create, and you organize those around you to manifest your goal”. also that you “create calm out of chaos by breaking down any problem into its parts and then mapping out the actions you need to take to resolve it.” lastly, there is mention of “[having] gained valuable wisdom and life experience” so as to guide someone else.
i interpret this to mean that i can ground myself by applying the knowledge gained over the past few years experience in recovery and combine that with a step by step outline of how i can concretely accomplish my major goal(s). i know my goals (stop drinking, get in shape/lose some weight, develop healthy lifestyle) and now i need to further break them down into their parts so i have a solid plan to reach them. i can be grounded when i know what my next step is.
the second card is the Sun - which is in response to “ What is something you need to let go of, to properly grow and reach your goals? “; according to Biddy Tarot, the sun is a sign of positive energy and this “warm energy is what will get you through the tough times and help you succeed.” if in a difficult time, the sun card is here to say that things are going to start getting better. “Through the challenges along your path, you discovered who you are and why you’re here” and the sun “connects you to your power base - not fear-driven, egotistical power, but abundant inner energy”.
i interpret this to mean that i need to let go of the fear-driven power base i previously had (centered around fear of death, dying, and losing people i love) and embrace the true power within me of positivity, hope and love. replace fear with light and drive out the darkness that is keeping my true power from shining through. i need to let go of the fear of succeeding, trying new things and challenging myself because only then will i really grow. this requires more work on my root chakra especially ensuring that i feel safe as well as rooted in my own presence.
the third card is IV of Pentacles - which is in response to “The third card represents an act of self-care to help you nurture your soul and mind so you can reach your goals.”; according to Biddy Tarot, IV of Pentacles has a lot to do with our relationship to money and calling us to have a balanced relationship and view of money. besides money, “it appears when you are seeking out more control in your life”.
i interpret this to mean that a big act of self care for me this Spring, is taking control of my lifestyle, choices, habits and decisions. this includes how and what i spend money on - for example, investing in healthy drinks like teas, sparkling waters or some juices instead of spending funds on alcohol. i also have to take control of myself and build my ability to say no to the things that are bad for me and yes to building a healthy lifestyle.
lastly, the fourth card is Mother/Queen of Swords - which is in response to “ What changes come with the changing of seasons? “; according to Biddy Tarot, Queen of Swords has the keywords “independent”, “unbiased judgement”, “clear boundaries” and “direct communication”.
i interpret this to mean that with the change of seasons, i will develop clearer boundaries - even if that’s just understanding what triggers my urges to drink and distancing myself from situations and events that cause them - and i will directly communicate my emotions and needs.
