The Christian life is a life of constant servitude, both to Christ and to those around us.
When we serve the Lord, we serve our neighbors as well. God is good, and we cannot serve goodness without being good ourselves.
Becoming a disciple of Christ is not about going to church once a week, or just being nice. It’s about a complete, spiritual transformation from the inside out.
There’s a reason why it’s called being born again. The old life has died, and we are made completely new in Christ.
Our old ways of acting, and even thinking, have died with Christ on that cross. We are now living the life of the Spirit that Jesus died and rose again to secure for those who love him.
And if we love him, then we must show it. We must fight the dark spirits forces at work in this world by showing love to those around us, and to those that need it the most.
If we must he lights to this world, then we must shine bright, just as he does. We must give glimpses of his awesome glory to those in our lives, and point them to the source of our salvation and new demeanor.
We must care for those who have fallen between the cracks of society, just as Jesus did for his entire life and ministry.
Jesus’ interest was not in the self righteous, but for those whom society had forgotten. His most miraculous miracles for those who were enemies of the Jews, the blind, the lame, the dumb, the poor, and the needy. His compassion on them was as a father looking at fatherless children, as a shepherd, looking upon a shepherd less flock.
We are called to be God’s hands and feet on this side of heaven. When God gets to work, we ought to as well. God gets nothing down with us when we sit soon scrolling and wasting our time.
God never takes a day off, so neither should we.
His teachings are to be our foundation. His word is to be our sustenance. His love is to be our strength. His truth is what we should be fighting for. His promise of heaven and his return is to be our hope.
It’s through our service to him and to others that these attributes begin to grow within us, as a tree producing its fruit. Our service is what cultivates us, and our humility is what keeps us growing.
God is the tree, and it’s through his branches (us) that he provides shelter and rest for those who need it.
It’s through our service that we become more like, and continue to be changed from glory to glory.
