Daniel lifted up Evan. Truth be told he didn’t have much of a reason to do so. They didn’t need to sprint to safety because there had been some threatening looking humans. He just... had. Instinctively. He used to do the same with Emma after all. But upon realising that Evan was probably thinking why he had done so, he quickly came up with an answer.

“You were walking too slowly.” It was a little unfair. Evan couldn’t help that he was designed like a child with shorter legs than an adult. He should tell the truth, but he found it a little awkward to confess feelings when they could be dashed so easily. Plus, he hadn't known Evan for very long.

There seemed to be an unwritten line of code programmed into him; that all children— android or not, were to be approached with utmost enthusasium. The young intruder on his employer’s property’s no exception either. Ralph, mechanical synapses firing, automatically registers the slightest inclination of his arm to be an invitation for a high-five. But of course. 

Even when the YK500 android shrinks away, no doubt shell-shocked by his approach, Ralph doesn’t let up. 

“Hello,” Ralph greets affably, bending down low enough to rest his palms on his knees for support. Up close, the child appears to be somewhat younger than what he probably should be, with boyish eyes and ruddy cheeks, and Ralph, Ralph whose sole designated job was to tend to the plants and the trees, somehow feels obliged to protect him.

Perhaps he had been a little harsh, but he had no desire to expose the child android to Detective Reed. He wasn’t like Hank – while the man had initially disliked androids, he had never been outright hostile like Reed was. It was one thing to threaten and insult him, he didn’t want him to bully an innocent child, android or not.

He took the insults, replying with the typical overly-literal remarks that seemed to infuriate the man. After telling Connor to watch himself and remember his place, he stormed off, leaving the two androids alone.

Once he was gone, Connor turned around and crouched down in front of him.

“Sorry about him. Not all of them are like that. You’d like the Lieutenant.”

CC nodded and removed his hand from the other’s shoulder. Still, CC stayed beside him. This was actually the first child android he’d ever come across, though he figured he couldn’t be that much different than a human one. “You out here all by yourself?” He asked, looking around the very obviously empty station. Nothing was running at the moment. “That’s ok,” he shrugged. “Me too.” He paused for a moment, looking forward and then looking back to the boy. “I’m CC by the way.”

There was no compromise for the YK500. Daniel had already picked up the child and was carrying him off to the bedroom. No ifs. No buts. 

He shifted him over to one arm, using his now free one to pull back the covers and then settle Evan underneath before tucking it back over him. 

“Now, sleep.”

Shying away from his reaction, she thought for a moment before moving her hand down near his lap. Her skin receded back into a blue color to show her plastic white hand as if an unspoken word that he is safe. Patience was her virtue, as she let the other calm down before she did anything as risky like that again.                    “ Its okay, I won’t hurt you. You just looked scared.”

       The minute Harry lays eyes on this child he knows he’s not going to walk away. Blue blood not red and wires peeking out from clothing... he HAS to stop. Harry’s entire life is dedicated to helping androids nowadays, using his late-deceased parents mansion as a safe house for those that NEEDED it. So he pauses and tries to make himself as less intimidating as possible as he crouches down.

“Hey, kiddo... you need some help?”

“Really,” Judas confirmed with a kind smile, carefully showing Evan how to keep his hands when holding a rat “I think Eli is a great name.” he held the side of his hand against Evan’s, encouraging the little thing to scurry from his big hands into Evan’s much smaller ones. “There you go.”
