We recently learned of a series on AO3 that lifts some plot elements, characters and characterizations, and dialog directly from ANBU Legacy. We know fanfiction thrives on ideas built in collaboration across a fandom, but we are uncomfortable with such direct lifting without attribution.
If they happen to see this, we hope this author will have the integrity to credit our work as their inspiration, as we do in acknowledging our work as derivative of Kishimoto’s world.
If you happen across this fic series, please don’t engage with the writer. We aren’t trying to initiate conflict, or even pursue the matter further; we just want to acknowledge that we are aware of the situation.
