raleigh/mako meeting as kids in a park or somewhere kiddy JUST PICTURE IT UGH SO ADORABLE
It was all Yancy's fault; he'd kicked the ball too hard, sending it sailing across the field, shooting past Raleigh, and over to the playground where a dozen little kids were running amuck, shrieking and laughing and falling down in the rocks as they chased each other around and around.
Grumbling, Raleigh ran after the ball, earning himself a bunch of odd looks from the younger kids when he started swearing at the tiny pebbles collecting at the bottoms of his sneakers and digging into the flats of his feet.
"Here," said a young girl with a close cropped bob of ink black hair and a wry look in her eyes. She was standing by herself near the merry-go-round, where a couple of dinosaurs and robots were scattered across the metal surface, and held out soccer ball to Raleigh.
"Thanks," he replied, taking the ball and starting to turn back; he could hear Yancy shouting at him to get moving unless he wanted his ass kicked. Raleigh rolled his eyes, but stopped short, pivoting on his heel towards the girl. "You wanna join us? We could probably kick my brother's ass together, you and me. What do you say?"
A small smile tugged at the corner of her mouth as she nodded, taking the ball from Raleigh's hands and kicking it towards Yancy. He tagged along after her, grinning.
