Winter's hands don't touch
The marrow within,
This time they won't be able
To coax a groan out of me.
They tickle me now instead
Of making me shiver like before.
No longer do I fear their cold
Seeping and holding me numb.
The year that has just gone
Vanished even though it seemed
Like a never ending bad humour
Is making me turn around
And embrace winter's kindest hands now.

Winter's kindest hand.
Withering heights
Lingering kings
Savage words on slender hips
Breathe
Quaint experience
Expressive
Silently weeping
Open ended questions
Devour
@imperial-poetry-prompts
Let the silence tug and caress
Devour all that you think
Is implacable and tasteless,
Let it tell you firmly and gently
That you needn't recall
That which kindles a wince
In your being everyday.
A seamstress of fate
Isn't your calling
Wave goodbye to the cloud
That keeps hovering overhead,
See that tremble of your hands
And aim to steady it
Instead of thinking,
About all that it cannot lift
At the moment.
There's my life she says
I can see it twisting and turning
Like a child,
Ready to deal with the inevitable
Moving all the time
Beckoning me to come and adorn it
Around my heart,
Yet here I am
Trembling under the weight
Of my own unwillingness
So steeped in the thoughts of what ifs
That instead of running toward it
I choose to wave it goodbye.
Here's a presence of nothing at all
Just a brief morning
And subtle nights,
That ask you live in the moment
Gaze outside the window
Covered by breezy curtains,
Feel your breath meandering
On every part of your skin,
You don't need shining stars
And luxurious comfort,
Just lay back
And smile at everything
That's ever-present
Making you the recipient of
A quaint experience.
